I haven't used Squidoo much at all...

If I wanted to promote Clickbank products there and direct link to the CB sales page is that going to hurt SEO?

Thanks in advance,

John

No it's not going to hurt your SEO at all, but Squidoo sometimes dislikes too promotional lenses. If you have one clear link at the top of your lens and one-two more links in the article, that should work well.

In one niche - I had EZA, GoArticles and HubPages rank higher than my client's site.

I wouldn't go overboard with the links in your lens. I usually just place one at the bottom and sometimes one in the middle depending on the lenght of my content. Sometimes it's better to create a link back to your site. Create a warm up page for the product you are promoteing. It won't hurt for you to create to different lenses with the same link, but different content. That way you can test to see which one works better. A direct link or a warm up page.

Squidoo is limiting the amount of links to the same domain on lenses now.
If you stuff it, your lens will be suspended. That alone would hurt any SEO.
But links in lenses (not suspended) are terrific and never hurt.

The links you leave in comments are nofollow and neither help nor hurt.

I have seen too many people lately put nothing but links. I think someone
preached this and now squidoo is cracking down.

All in all, Google love squidoo lenses, last I read. But squidoo is limiting the number of links to be included in a lens. I believe, this measure has been taken to remove the spam links from lenses. They have been used extensively and people rank at good positions for their desired keywords, better than there own websites, as pointed out in some of the posts above. I guess, posting some of the most relevant and significant links will help feature your lens in a good standing.

I use squidoo for building the page rank of my sites. Also, is used for getting on the top certain phrase you want to promote. You must use the same keyword phrase, and link it to your page using the same keyword phrase as the anchor text.
