Moving all articles from one blog to another -What is the worst case scenario?

Hey...

So I am considering taking down one of my blogs (SEO-based) which has been up for about two years but I haven't had good time to attend to it, so it hasn't been discovered much..

Thing is, it has great content and I am considering using these articles on a different blog of an SEO-based E-commerce site.
Is this a good Idea?
Will Google flag me for duplicate content even though I will take down the old blog?
What is the possible worst case scenario?

    There is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. There never has been and it is perhaps the biggest bunch of misinformation the SEO industry has ever spewed (they should really call it "Guess EO").

    In a worst-case scenario, Google only shows the results of one of the websites. In this case, they couldn't show the article on the old site because it will no longer exist and will eventually be de-indexed, so there is no down side (other than the fact that the old site may take a month or two for its pages to be de-indexed).

      This is a great answer!

      If you'll delete the articles from the last website and get it de-indexed, you'll be fine!

    Well. maybe not a penalty, but I sure believe posting duplicate content has some consequences as far as Google is concerned.
    But this is helpful, thanks -should I then take down the old site in advance before posting the articles on the new site? Maybe a month later... Will that make things any better?

      It really doesn't matter when you do it. If you want, you could also 301 from the old URL to the new one for each page.

    Move them to the new site, redirect everything from the old site to the new, then delete them on the old site.
