I have seen major changes today. The site I am working for, was on page 3 and no 3. Today it found on page 7. Does this changed for the update?

  • be careful while you are working with SEO and forum posting
  • Google constantly updates their algorithm - 100s of times per year. Here are the reports from just this month that caused chatter in the SEO community - https://www.seroundtable.com/category/google-updates
  • Yes Google is constantly updating its algorithm. But the fact that your website appears on page 7 instead of page 3 can be caused by a multitude of factors. Brutal position changes are common for a website that starts, for example.
  • Hi,
There are plenty of reasons, due to which, your website position has been changed drastically. Some of them are:
    1- Inconsistency in SEO strategy
    2- Removal of backlinks
3- Fail to update current and latest content on the site.

    • #3 on this list has nothing to do with how well your site will rank unless your site is something like a current events, weather or news website where up to the minute stories matter. Provided, of course, that the content you wrote 1/2/3 years ago is still valid today. For most websites, when something was published and how often the site is updated with new information has little to nothing to do with rankings.

An overnight dramatic shift in rankings has nothing to do with the frequency or how current the information is. This is likely either a new website doing the dance or one that just had a bunch of backlinks devalued.
  • I noticed the similar issue once on my website.
For solving that problem I stopped creating backlinks for couple of weeks and it work again I got the same position for the keywords.

So creating backlinks for particular keywords in a particular time period can be more beneficial.

  • Yes, google keep on changing its alogarithm for ranking, the reason your website appearing on page 7 from page 3, could be creating too mmuch backlinks or adding some plagiarism content, trying avoiding this things and add some relevant keywords under the meta tags.

    • Good advice, except for the part about meta tags. Google does not use meta tags for ranking.

Also, obtaining too many backlinks does not cause a problem. In fact, what you want to do is get more legitimate backlinks from websites that have to place the link, themselves, to your site. Backlinks that you can place yourself will not help you.
  • Google keeps weeding out folks ignoring the fundamentals, J.
