I have an important keyword that I want to rank, and I made two different posts. One infographic (with only a few text words) and one text article (which includes images).

Now I realize that I have two posts competing for the same keyword and I must decide which one to push up.

In that case, what do you guys think works best as a cornestone content? The infographic or the article?

  • You need to do testing to decide which one works best for you as we are not able to read the content or see the graphic.

As per my experience people are more likely to go through infographics they don't like to read any more even they want videos andinfographics can also be a really great way because they can understand what they want in a very limited time instead of the text article.

And as InternetMarketingMadeEZ his already told that you need to find what really works for you so just keep testing

Infographics are easy to understand. Nowadays many people don't want to read a long paragraph.

  • I would personally go with the infographic, at least it would be possible to share on a bigger variety of platform (like pinterest or other image sites) while the article not so much. Really depends on the keywords themselves I suppose, just my two cents.

As others are saying, test both then go with whichever is doing best in practice.

And/or put both on the same page, some people prefer to look at the infographic, some people will read the text, and the text gives the search engines more to work with, so will promote the infographic better anyway.

I think Infographic will be a good option. As people prefer or like graphics image n text to read. Instead of reading a whole article.

Nowadays people don't have too much time to read the lengthy article or blog so if they are getting the same information in less time through infographics or visual images, definitely they will prefer that. As per concern regarding ranking, you can also take the link back to your site through infographic distribution & promotion.

Not sure this even a question worth testing. Aside from backlinking.. the text version is going to be better suited for gaining traction on a site.. the graphic version plays more into share-ability across many platforms. I am instantly thinking post both... but not so sure that is even the right answer.

Think bigger picture here.. since you are suggesting "cornerstone content" An infographic to spread across the net.. and then the article on the main page that breaks out the infographic with textual explanation over all.. you can then also take those segments of the infographic and share those as well.

    so you have a infographic:
    • Piece A
    • Piece B
    • Piece C
    • Piece D

Share that in whole outside the website.

    On the website

Piece A and then text to greater inform visitor

Piece B with text to greater inform

    Piece C.. etc etc

You can then take those broken pieces and share those as well

The whole idea of cornerstone content is breaking it apart in pretty much as many pieces as you can to share across as many platforms as you can spreading the overall reach of a single piece of content IE the segmented text version of the infographic.

Why not combine both? Use text below the infographic to please the search engines, and let the image do it's magic.
