I've been out of SEO for a while. I'm launching a new business and want to achieve good results when people google my name.

I have articles on sites like Thrive Global, Self Growth, The Today Show Community and multiple newspaper's websites.

In the old days I could ping the article's urls, build some backlinks to each article and directly submit each article to Bing and Google and they would rank high very quickly.

Any suggestions on getting these articles to rank well in 2019>

Thanks for your help!

Depends on what kind of content if you have.
If you want your website to be known by google best would be to build citations so that google will know about the website and acknowledge it properly.

I would say the more "Modern" version of dong this would be schema markup.

try this: https://neilpatel.com/blog/get-started-using-schema/ and goto the "Third" point made in the article and it will directly relate to what it is you want to occomplish

    Hope that helps!

I love Schema but I am not trying to get my website to rank. I am trying to get articles I've written on other websotes to rank when people google my name. Here's an example: My Family's Journey With Essential Oils | TODAY.com

Ok, so again follow those steps.. I get what you are trying to do.

So here is the logic behind this.. back in the not so distant past there was Google Authorship.. so using your name on articles across the web was a good thing... Google canned this... BUT the same is present within Schema IE the author tag. from within YOUR site reaching out to the sites that would have your name or business name on them, give Google a clear link of ownership or context to that piece ( not on your site ) and relates it to YOU. Are you following me?

So a simple act of "claiming" ownership of an article.. ( if it was a guest post ) OR if there is mention of you in an article.. you are tying that in thru context of name association... Google then knows to relate those to you.. So if someone searches "cadlemediagroup" they will know thru the schema tagging on your site.. that "cadlemediagroup" is also associated with articles A B and C NOT on their site.

        Hope that Helps!

No more quick ranking on Google these days. Make friends by helping top bloggers. Earn links organically. The only way to do it, for lasting results, or to even sniff page 1. Neil Patel is really good at this. Study his blog to see him in action.

Maintain the quality of the contents and do research for the new update for the same topics you are posting.

You still have to build links to them, but now it's more about the quality of links.

  • Bruce,
You can brand yourself on Social Media. Create a Facebook Business Page, an Instagram profile, a YouTube channel, etc....and then rank those properties in Google. That way, you will be getting traffic from both Google and the social media platforms.

You can do social media posting, forum posting, guest blogging, social book marking, and pdf submission with the links of your articles. You can also create videos for helping viewers highlighting your articles. Answering the questions on quora and backlink your articles may also be helpful.

Personal branding is the practice of people marketing themselves and their careers as brands. While previous self-help management techniques were about self-improvement, the personal branding concept suggests instead that success comes from self-packaging.
