Hi all,

Does anyone know how I can determine the current backlink velocity of our site?

Also does anyone know how many new links should be acquired to look natural?

Thanks a lot

SJ.

No there's no actual figure or amount to calculate it.
You can use tools like Ahrefs to calculate the backlinks built per month.

No method. If the website is new, start to get 1-2 links first month, then get 2-3 links on second month and so on. Backlinks growth must be slow and moderate

Ignore this. They clearly have no idea wtf they are talking about.

The correct answer is as many good links as you can possibly get. Anyone saying otherwise is clueless. Google does not care how many links you are getting. They are looking at the quality of the links.

Link velocity is a myth conjured up by blackhats back in the days when they were spamming tens of thousands of links to a single page over the course of days/weeks.

I think Google are probably clever enough to work out when a site is naturally generating large amounts of links and when it's being done unnaturally. This is why lots of people do drip feeding with backlinks to get around this issue.

Link velocity is simply the rate of incoming links to a website. Bulk amount of back links gained at small period of interval is a risky thing and there might be chances for Google to lower the site ranking.

There is no limit on building link per day, you can build as much you want. But Don't spam your link in the same websites.

Hi, An incredible link velocity profile and release all the SEO benefits this infers. Link velocity alludes to the speed of link development to a page or space of intrigue. Web advertisers use link velocity to quantify the rate at which they construct links to a website or a particular URL..

As long as you are getting good quality links to your website, velocity doesnt matter. if a website takes off and goes viral, the gorg aint gonna penalize the site for being popular lol, this sort of thing happens all the time.

There's various tools you can use for this such as MOZ & Ahrefs. You just want to build quality links on a consistent basis. Weave this into your overall SEO strategy each and every month.

I wouldn't be so focused on a specific number, just try to acquire as many quality backlinks as possible through relevant guest posting, competitor backlink analysis, producing high-quality content and networking with other bloggers/webmasters.
