Hi

I'm reaching out for backlinks and noticed I get the very last link in the article.

Does this have the same value as the first or second link in the article?

Thanks
Shaun J

Well It does matter If you are looking for some traffic conversion. But for a link building process its fine that you got a link. most of the Articles you publish on other sites they agree only for an author bio link. this will gives your website a backlink but the traffic never comes from there and it will be dead after some time. So always try to get a backlink in the body and at a relevent position so that user may click and Reach your website.

Try adding your link in the first paragraph of the article. Add link at relevant position with proper anchor text.

t has same value until and unless it's in body tag of the page.

Do you mean author bio section by saying "last link in the article"?
If yes, then it does not have same value.
Links in body tag has the most value. To be more precise, editorial links have the most value. In some of the websites, the author bio section is embedded in sidebar or footer of the website which passes less authority to the backlink.
Backlinks in the sidebar and the footer section are less effective than those which are placed between the content.

Then the placement does not matter.
You just have to make sure that the link is placed in the way that makes oneself curious to open it.

I agree with Stephenchong!! It is beneficial if you put a link in the body of the article rather than an author bio link.

According to the SEO perspective, if it is a dofollow link then in rankings - YES.
But as said above, there would be less chance of post visitors will click the link in the last. Try to get backlinks from sites which has author bio section on above or side of the page.

Pro Tip: Try to point to the author bio section in between your article like a professional do.

  • Well if you are getting links from the last paragraph then it will be fine but if you are paying for it then try to get them from 1st or 2nd paragraph so that visitors can move from that website to yours and this will have a good impact.

But mostly the webmaster won't provide links from those links since it will increase the bounce rate of their website.

  • If you know about contextual linking then you should not ask this kind of questions. Use hyperlink between the content.

Adding a backlink in the first paragraph is always beneficial as the chances of getting clicks on the link increases. Just we have to make sure that the anchor text taken for the backlink goes with the flow of the content.
You can also take backlinks in remaining content of the body, author bio and images(for products).

Better approach Shaun; build bonds by helping bloggers. Then, you get quality links on organic blogs because believe you me, if bloggers simply give you links after you reach out and ask, these are not quality links LOL. Gotta earn those buddy by building bonds and earning the trust of top bloggers.

I would position a backlink within the first two paragraphs. I also have seen writers post them in their bio as well.

Well body links are the best for getting users attention and traffic from others website. Author bio links are just for adding a backlink to the website that is not passing any traffic to your domain. As no body is interested in knowing about the Author.

I recommend that the link be placed in the first paragraph if you want to get traffic from it. The understanding is simple; people don't have time to read through the entire article. So getting the link in the first paragraph gives you a head start.
