How long for Google to rank sites/articles these days?

Been making an article website with 50% product reviews and 50% info type articles.
In the health and fitness niche but nothing medical.
All 1000 words or more using KW finder

I think I may have picked a tough niche because after 9 months I am still not being ranked very well by Google.

In total my 40 articles receive only 2,500 visits per month and my worse article gets 2,100 of those. I say worse because it's a simple list type , for example "40 best lawnmower jokes" and obviously isn't very buyer intent.

My buyer intent keywords are ranking nowhere, even though KW finder told me they were easy to medium difficulty.

What am I doing wrong or is it that Google now takes 12 months to rank a website?

    Hi Mike!

It can take a few months for a new website to get enough traction in Google to start ranking, so persistence is important.

And you're right, the health and fitness niche isn't the easiest - it's quite competitive, and Google increasingly wants to rank authority sites in that niche because it's a "Your Money or Your Life" niche where bad advice can have serious consequences.

You mentioned that you've written 40 articles - which is great - but you haven't said anything about what you've been doing to promote your site.

What link building have you been doing? What other SEO or promotional activities? How do you split your time between content creation and promotion?

I would suggest spending at least 50% of your time on promoting your content initially - perhaps even more.

"Build it and they will come" is a nice idea - but it doesn't work online any more.

No one can give you an exact answer to this question since ranking will change from niche to niche and backlinks you built.

So best is to craft quality article and then build quality links and just wait for it.

Regarding link building, I haven't been doing any link building as I'm using the Income School method of no linking.

What sort of link building do you think I should be doing as I'm aware this method i'm using isn't really working?

Get some quality backlinks with guest posts and outreach, quality web 2.0. At the end of the day, buy a couple of PBN links from trusted sellers if you don't mind doing some black hat. Diversify it with some profile links etc.

First, make sure that your on page is optimized. do proper internal linking. You need content marketing to drive traffic to your articles. do guest posting aggressively to drive traffic to buy some safe PBN links and web 2.0s to increase your ranking.

As regards backlinking, post the URLs for your articles on the social media platforms. Then go out and look for other blogs in your niche and leave quality comments on them. Only leave comments on sites where you can also leave your own web address. That can be to your home page or to articles you want to promote.

You could also write articles for some of the article directories like EzineArticles and link back to your home page or an article.

There are other ways of backlinking too.

Yes, it takes time but backlinks are still one of the main things Google uses in ranking your pages.

I don't recommend using PBNs to get backlinks. Google frowns on this tactic. It's better to stay as white-hat as possible.

I've also had articles written around low-competition keywords that just don't rank. It's part of the business. No one knows how Google's ranking algorithm works and it's constantly changing. Trying to game it never works out in the long run.

It's hard to tell how much time can Google take to rank your articles, as you're having a new website, it will probably gonna take more time because of low DA/PA, try to generate quality backlinks for your website, It will gonna help you to increase Domain authority.

Spend more time towards marketing of your website, without proper marketing, you never gonna get traffic as well as raking for your website.

You can also try Facebook ads, it will help you to reach more audience which are not in your range right now, only if you're willing to spend some bucks for it.

From what some people are telling me, it is taking a hell of a lot longer than 6 months.
One SEO company that writes and ranks articles is telling me that in 2018 it was taking 12 months for less competitive niches/keywords and up to 2 years for more competitive niches, if at all!

There are a number of things to consider to rank in Google search. It depends on the strenght of your website, the competition, the budget and your skills in SEO.

If you are lucky enough, it takes about 2 to 6 months or a year to rank in Google. However, most of the websites took more than a year or two to be able to rank in high-volume and medium-volume keywords. Obviously, it is easier to rank for low-volume keywords whcih could take about a month or 2.

A site can take anything between a couple of hours to a week to a few weeks to get grabbed by Google. The bigger your site and the greater expert your site has, the snappier the ordering procedure will be. Archiving the highest point of the inquiry rankings does not occur without any forethought, particularly for independent companies with practically zero existing web nearness.

i ranked website in less than 2 months . you should choose keywords which are less competitive and long tail . can use ahrefs / semrush and then analyze manually.
    Here is what i do:
1- give it a week to index.
2- Perfect on page SEO (Use tools)
3- from second week i start link building
4- building links are multiple tier ,it still works.
5- do alot of social shares.

I think you should first look at your website and what it intends to. what is the consumer's behavior when they visit your website, what you articles are intended to and If you are doing just for selling your products, you may never be successful, I suggest you to give valuable advice to the consumers about the benefits of your product and you should never use a sales pitch which may restrain the user from buying your product.
As long as link building is concerned go out for good links which make give your brand exposure in the industry you are playing.

I've always gone for keywords that have less than 100 searches as they are generally very low competition. Because there isn't much content produced on these keywords, I can generally rank within 30-60 days.
You don't have to swim with the whales in High competition niches, swim with the tiddlers and then do a good job once visitors are on your site.
I then use internal linking with LSI keywords to my more higher volume keyword money pages.
This also has the advantage of lowering your bounce rate as visitors generally click through 2-3 pages.
Have a long game attitude and be patient. Hope this helps

  • The Google Sandbox has never been officially confirmed by Google. But many SEOs are confident that it exists, simply because they see Sandbox-like effects when they try to rank new websites.

The reason why Sandbox exists is simple.

Holding back brand new websites from ranking could give Google more time to evaluate the website quality and fight spam.

Here's what John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst said in a recent Webmaster Hangout on Feb 23, 2018:

With regards to sandbox, we don't really have this traditional sandbox that a lot of SEOs used to be talking about in the years past. We have a number of algorithms that might look similar, but these are essentially just algorithms trying to understand how the website fits in with the rest of the websites trying to rank for those queries. [...] It's always kind of tricky in the beginning when we have a new website and we don't quite know where we should put it.

So, what happens after you get out of the Sandbox?

Does it mean you will start to rank in the Top10 automatically?

To answer that question, we did another study. This time round, we tried to figure out how long it takes till a website ranks on top of Google.

We randomly selected 2 million pages that were first seen by Ahrefs crawler a year ago. We then tracked the position history of each page for any keyword it's ranked for.

Which resulted in this graph u probably it take no more than one month which will be easily required for many

I wish I can answer your question.

    But I can't.

I do have an affiliate site on helping married couples to save their marriage from divorce and product I am promoting is Amy Waterman's Save My Marriage.

That site was set up in Jan 2011 but took me 5 months to see results.

The best way to get traffic - the way I see now - is not just depending on SEO but on social traffic and engaging that traffic.

    How do this?

By setting up FB fanpage, join FB groups and run ads targetting all married couples for 1 month.

Then you see for yourself whether what you did is worth your time and $.

The more websites that point to your website and/or content the faster your content will get ranked for. Depending upon the popularity and competition of your article subject will have a lot to do with your articles getting noticed, ranked, etc. as well. If you have more people liking, linking, mentioning your articles on other sites, social media, etc. this will help speed things up as well.

Also, the more you update your website the faster Google will crawl it for new content. Think of it this way. Google will crawl your site on a daily basis. If it sees no changes in a week then it will start crawling your site on a weekly basis, If it sees no changes in a month then it will crawl your site on a monthly basis and so on. If Google is slow to checking out your website then that would reflect on how slow it is to rank your pages as well.

As I understood, You are looking new to blogging. First of all you need to learn few basics about blogging. Specially, related to SEO.

Use Google and learn about on page and off page SEO. It is a long and complicated process. Google has billions of sites. Writing a good content is not a big deal but reaching ti audience is a big deal.

Seo is the only key to start getting organic traffic from Google. You were asking about indexing time. It really depends on many factors. But you can simply increase your indexing frequency by sharing your content with different social media platforms.

Use fb, twitter, Pinterest, insta, LinkedIn, google+, and create a page there. Share immediately after publishing your post there.

You can also do one more thing. After publishing your post. You can visit Google webmaster tools and add your url there for faster index.

I hope you have submitted your site on Google search console. If not, then its a big mistake.

It really depends upon the site. If frequent updates are done to your website then that means that Google crawls your website more frequently than another website that rarely does updates. To speed up the process of getting one of my customer's website crawled I would create a link to their website from mine. The more links pointing to your website and the higher domain authority you have the faster and more likely you will get crawled and ranked.

I would do keyword research on your website theme and check sources like Social Mentions and Google Trends to find out what is popular now. The keyword research will tell you which of the popular trends are easiest to rank for.

Lists are very popular online so I am not surprised that it did well.

    Here are some quick notes:
    Biggest Mistakes on Keyword Research
    1. Choosing keywords that are too broad
    2. Keywords with too much competition
    3. Keywords without enough traffic
    4. Keywords that don't convert
    5. Trying to rank for one keyword at a time

    Eyeball the SERPs
Are the first few results optimized for the keyword?
Is the keyword in the title tag? In the URL? On the page?
What's the Page and/or Domain Authority of the URL?
Are the first few results authorities on the keyword subject?
    What's the inbound anchor text?
Can you deliver a higher quality resource for this keyword?

    Ways of doing Keyword Research
    1. Collect Input
    2. Brainstorm
    3. Generate an Ideation List
4a. Search the web, news, images, YouTube, & Buzzsumo using your list
4b. Collect the concepts, topics, intents, related searches, & popular content you find
4c. Aggregate into a new keyword list for refinement via volume estimate/expansion tools
5a. Group keywords by overlap in searcher intent
5b. Break into buckets of 1-5+ terms/phrases that all serve those same intents. Worry less about precise KW match targeting in the title/url/headline
6a. Produce a list of searcher intents with the keywords they are going after (1-5 KWs each)
6b. Create pages to target each intent, and plan outgoing content efforts w/ more competitive & temporarily demanding and time-based KWs
7a. If you have multiple pages already targeting the same keyword intent(s), consider consolidation (especially if they don't rank well)
7b. Anticipate creating fresh content that may repeatedly target the same KWs based on temporal changes, new intents, & goal of connecting your domain w/ those terms in the engine

Well Google or any search engine never prioritize the length of the content. The length only matters because you can stuff more keywords in them. Short and user-friendly content is the best. You should look out for what keywords you are ranking and what is the competition in them. You should look out at the off page techniques which help you bring more traffic.

these can be reason for your question

    3. Poor user experience
    4. Overly optimized content
    5. Inferior content quality
    6. Not enough off-site SEO
    7. Trying to rank for competitive terms
    8. Change in URLs/permalinks
    9. Recent switch to SSL/HTTPS
    10. Too many affiliate links
    11. Lack of user engagement
    12. Duplicate content
    13. Penalty from Google
I would say first to improve your website DA that is domain authority. IF your DA is good then you can get a good leverage in getting your articles ranked. Also you should focus on these website ranking factors as well
    1. Header tags
    2. Image Optimization
    3. Page Load Speed
    4. Quality Backlink

It varies from niche to niche. Yup, if doing all these is not enough. Then it might be a competitive niche. Only publishing article isn't going to work here, you have to do more to get more.

More importantly in your Backlink & content strategy. Focus on EAT factor if you are into affiliate. I tried something similar with home appliances amazon affiliate site. That too have same scenario as yours.

    Things you can do here:
    # Make sure your are articles are full of information follows EAT (Exact, authority and trust) includes your main keywords and their variations. Improve you content, do more interlinking to related content in natural way.

    # Get backlinks from some relevant blogs / site who are working other products similar to yours. (If possible) It can be 15-20 DA sites.

    # You can try 301 redirect as well. (on your own) If you gets bunch of expired domain (not easy to find) which can still pass link juice use them as redirect or PBN.

After doing all these just wait for 15-30 days. Hopefully you will see a climb in traffic.

    Thanks,

It won't be easy to rank a new establish website. You have to ensure that you use relevant and unique keywords. Also, it doesn't matter how long the content is as it is more important to produce quality content. You can do link building if you have time as it also contributes to the ranking.

The exact time is 3-6 months. But it also depends on the content, page optimization and other google factors as well.

According to multiple sources, the average time for websites to rank on Google through optimization (SEO) techniques is about three to six months. That's right - jumping to the front of Google's results usually takes between 90-180 days, depending on the competitiveness of your industry and popularity of your keywords.
