How long for Google to rank sites/articles these days?

Been making an article website with 50% product reviews and 50% info type articles.
In the health and fitness niche but nothing medical.
All 1000 words or more using KW finder

I think I may have picked a tough niche because after 9 months I am still not being ranked very well by Google.

In total my 40 articles receive only 2,500 visits per month and my worse article gets 2,100 of those. I say worse because it's a simple list type , for example "40 best lawnmower jokes" and obviously isn't very buyer intent.

My buyer intent keywords are ranking nowhere, even though KW finder told me they were easy to medium difficulty.

What am I doing wrong or is it that Google now takes 12 months to rank a website?

    Hi Mike!

It can take a few months for a new website to get enough traction in Google to start ranking, so persistence is important.

And you're right, the health and fitness niche isn't the easiest - it's quite competitive, and Google increasingly wants to rank authority sites in that niche because it's a "Your Money or Your Life" niche where bad advice can have serious consequences.

You mentioned that you've written 40 articles - which is great - but you haven't said anything about what you've been doing to promote your site.

What link building have you been doing? What other SEO or promotional activities? How do you split your time between content creation and promotion?

I would suggest spending at least 50% of your time on promoting your content initially - perhaps even more.

"Build it and they will come" is a nice idea - but it doesn't work online any more.

No one can give you an exact answer to this question since ranking will change from niche to niche and backlinks you built.

So best is to craft quality article and then build quality links and just wait for it.

Regarding link building, I haven't been doing any link building as I'm using the Income School method of no linking.

What sort of link building do you think I should be doing as I'm aware this method i'm using isn't really working?

Get some quality backlinks with guest posts and outreach, quality web 2.0. At the end of the day, buy a couple of PBN links from trusted sellers if you don't mind doing some black hat. Diversify it with some profile links etc.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11481280].message }}
    • First, make sure that your on page is optimized. do proper internal linking. You need content marketing to drive traffic to your articles. do guest posting aggressively to drive traffic to buy some safe PBN links and web 2.0s to increase your ranking.

As regards backlinking, post the URLs for your articles on the social media platforms. Then go out and look for other blogs in your niche and leave quality comments on them. Only leave comments on sites where you can also leave your own web address. That can be to your home page or to articles you want to promote.

You could also write articles for some of the article directories like EzineArticles and link back to your home page or an article.

There are other ways of backlinking too.

Yes, it takes time but backlinks are still one of the main things Google uses in ranking your pages.

I don't recommend using PBNs to get backlinks. Google frowns on this tactic. It's better to stay as white-hat as possible.

I've also had articles written around low-competition keywords that just don't rank. It's part of the business. No one knows how Google's ranking algorithm works and it's constantly changing. Trying to game it never works out in the long run.

It's hard to tell how much time can Google take to rank your articles, as you're having a new website, it will probably gonna take more time because of low DA/PA, try to generate quality backlinks for your website, It will gonna help you to increase Domain authority.

Spend more time towards marketing of your website, without proper marketing, you never gonna get traffic as well as raking for your website.

You can also try Facebook ads, it will help you to reach more audience which are not in your range right now, only if you're willing to spend some bucks for it.

Well Mikeb222, Google is slow now a days, Their indexing is slow, ranking is slow so there is no issue. But 80% depends on your keyword research. Here's some tips you can follow:
    1: Your main Keyword's Searches maximum 300 to 500
2: Your main keywords's SERP's all domains should have less DA PA below 30
    3: Unique and fresh Content.
4: You article length minimum 2000 words.
5: Must USE LSI keywords as much as you can
    6: Unlimited Social Sharing
    7: Backlinks (not spamming)
Backlinks: You should starts from Blog comments, 1st month you need to make 40 backlinks
30 backlinks from Blog comments and 10 from Guest posts, Guest posts must have 30+ DA PA and 20+ CF TF.
So i guess you should do it for at-least 3 to 4 months. But results may vary from person to person. Hope you got it....

    Ok.
With Blog comments, do I simply leave comments and link back to my sites homepage or to a particular article?

Guest blogging- How do I get the person to publish my post?

    Bit confused

No need to be confused.. let me clear your mind.
Suppose you have micro niche like baby toys, And you are searching for blog comments which are relevant to your niche. After finding perfect blog, you need to write a reason able comment, you should ask any question about babies, or you can give them a advice and after writing 2 or 3 lines then you can add your anchor text, For example your anchor text is "diy baby toys" now you need to use it like this
I need some ideas on diy baby toys to keep my younger son entertained without hurting the planet.

Hope you got how to use anchor text.
      And Guest blogging.
There are many websites which gives you facility of writing for their blogs, but most of websites are paid, they require huge money for a single link, like buzzfeed .com requires $600 for a single post. And still there is no guarantee they approve your article. So i can give you a easy way, you should contact to brokers and owners of websites, and give them original Articles with your links and ask them to publish on their sites. They may be require some money from you, which you can afford easily. It is safe and secure, I also have some big websites, if you are interested then i can give you permanent dofollow backlink in low price.

Not really. Do you mean the bold has my website link in it? I'm still confused

From what some people are telling me, it is taking a hell of a lot longer than 6 months.
One SEO company that writes and ranks articles is telling me that in 2018 it was taking 12 months for less competitive niches/keywords and up to 2 years for more competitive niches, if at all!

      So no wonder I'm struggling!

There are a number of things to consider to rank in Google search. It depends on the strenght of your website, the competition, the budget and your skills in SEO.

If you are lucky enough, it takes about 2 to 6 months or a year to rank in Google. However, most of the websites took more than a year or two to be able to rank in high-volume and medium-volume keywords. Obviously, it is easier to rank for low-volume keywords whcih could take about a month or 2.

A site can take anything between a couple of hours to a week to a few weeks to get grabbed by Google. The bigger your site and the greater expert your site has, the snappier the ordering procedure will be. Archiving the highest point of the inquiry rankings does not occur without any forethought, particularly for independent companies with practically zero existing web nearness.

i ranked website in less than 2 months . you should choose keywords which are less competitive and long tail . can use ahrefs / semrush and then analyze manually.
    Here is what i do:
1- give it a week to index.
2- Perfect on page SEO (Use tools)
3- from second week i start link building
4- building links are multiple tier ,it still works.
5- do alot of social shares.
Always works for me. I usually do tech blogs.

I think you should first look at your website and what it intends to. what is the consumer's behavior when they visit your website, what you articles are intended to and If you are doing just for selling your products, you may never be successful, I suggest you to give valuable advice to the consumers about the benefits of your product and you should never use a sales pitch which may restrain the user from buying your product.
As long as link building is concerned go out for good links which make give your brand exposure in the industry you are playing.

I've always gone for keywords that have less than 100 searches as they are generally very low competition. Because there isn't much content produced on these keywords, I can generally rank within 30-60 days.
You don't have to swim with the whales in High competition niches, swim with the tiddlers and then do a good job once visitors are on your site.
I then use internal linking with LSI keywords to my more higher volume keyword money pages.
This also has the advantage of lowering your bounce rate as visitors generally click through 2-3 pages.
Have a long game attitude and be patient. Hope this helps

  • The Google Sandbox has never been officially confirmed by Google. But many SEOs are confident that it exists, simply because they see Sandbox-like effects when they try to rank new websites.

The reason why Sandbox exists is simple.

Holding back brand new websites from ranking could give Google more time to evaluate the website quality and fight spam.

Here's what John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst said in a recent Webmaster Hangout on Feb 23, 2018:

With regards to sandbox, we don't really have this traditional sandbox that a lot of SEOs used to be talking about in the years past. We have a number of algorithms that might look similar, but these are essentially just algorithms trying to understand how the website fits in with the rest of the websites trying to rank for those queries. [...] It's always kind of tricky in the beginning when we have a new website and we don't quite know where we should put it.

So, what happens after you get out of the Sandbox?

Does it mean you will start to rank in the Top10 automatically?

To answer that question, we did another study. This time round, we tried to figure out how long it takes till a website ranks on top of Google.

We randomly selected 2 million pages that were first seen by Ahrefs crawler a year ago. We then tracked the position history of each page for any keyword it's ranked for.

Which resulted in this graph u probably it take no more than one month which will be easily required for many
