Have recent Google changes become more location specific (globally)?

We were rocked a bit by the recent Google wobble but we haven't fully recovered despite doing huge optimisation attempts. However, we have noticed the following over the past week or so...

We are Australian but most business comes from the US (where we have an office). We also have an office in London. Our top keywords have dropped a little in both those locations but performance of our Australian keywords has rocketed - they're suddenly all on page 1.

Our website is hosted on AWS in Boardman, Oregon. We make a point of pushing our US address.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

    It comes down to the search phrases being used. Google's algorithm is supposed to weigh your business location when it might matter to the person who is searching.

    For many searches, they assume the person is looking for a place nearby where they can purchase the products or services they desire. For informational searches (how do I ...?), I doubt location plays any role at all.

    Ranking on specific country other than US is easy since you wont have enough competitors. But over US you will have to beat other competitors so ranking on them could be little hard rather than ranking for specific country.

    And I doubt any new updates or changes has been pushed recently.
