Hi, I am unable to get to the google keyword tool without setting up a campaign and putting in my billing info. I don't want to
go through all that just to get some keywords. Do you guys know of a alternative tool you use for keyword research? Thanks.

Market Samurai, not quite what it used to be, but still pretty solid (uses Bing's keyword suggestions these days I believe). Free trial also available for you to test it out, should give you enough time to come up with a ton of ideas for various campaigns before the trial ends.

Market Samurai is absolutely one of the biggest pieces of shit in the industry. If it was free, it would be drastically overpriced.

You do NOT need to set up a campaign, nor provide billing info to use Google Keyword Tool. To be certain prior to answering I just went, made brand new Google account, went to AdWords and simply had access. There is a bug, where if you click on something, I think campaign, during initial access to Google AdWords as a new user, it locks you in. Basically, Once you're on the AdWords page, do not click "Continue" -- doing so will take you to the campaign setup process, for which there is no back button. If this happens, you'll need to restart the process with another email address. Instead, click "Skip the guided setup.",

You can also try going here: https://adwords.google.com/um/Welcom...sf=et&pli=1#ac while logged into google account you failed to click skip on, and it might bypass it, then you can delete campaign you started so it will not bug you.

There is a good reason to not rely on Google Keyword Planner however and that is that data it gives you is pulled from AdWords, Google paid ads, and not from Googles Organic Search, and so there are huge amount of really solid keywords it simply will never give you. Its ok for very basic intro kw list tho.

For alternatives, cheap/free ones tend to be terrible and simply pull data from that same Google KW tool, or Bing. Paid ones tend to be 90 days to 120 days behind.

Instead, I would suggest using Google Trends https://trends.google.com/trends/?geo=US

As for Market Samurai, I actually used to really like it, but this past few weeks they had several bugs, and updates seem to come really slowly, so I'm not really sure its worth paying for at this time.

You can use Uber suggest. It's a good tool and gives you all the estimates that the keyword planner will show and moreover it gives you the exact searches on your keyword.

Ubersuggest does a very poor job with PPC difficulty but its organic is decent. The other nice thing about it is that you can export the entire list.
