I've heard that simply having a strong web presence can have a positive influence on SEO. Is this true? I.e. if we create a profile on Tumblr, Medium, Vimeo, YouTube (not just Facebook and Twitter), and maybe publish a blog or two on those sites, will that affect SEO?

Yes, it does help. You won't rank high, bet these backlinks are good for backlink diversity and pass the link juice to your site.

It won't really make a difference except in extremely weak SERPs with zero competition. Links from those places are weak AF.

It have to be unique. And also your competition has to be extremely low. A few months back a video ranked top in google via youtube just because it has a title about "Mig 21 vs F16".

You can publish your article but only in Tumblr and Medium by giving the source in the end. as this 2 sites are allowing repost and giving credit to original sources with the canonical tag.

You can republish your article on Google Blogger and Wordpress too but you need to give canonical tag to original URL and source to the original website but I would suggest go with only Tumblr and Medium and not with other Sites.

Tumblr, Medium, & Other Profiles Affect Website SEO, YOU can't drive organic traffic to your Tumblr blog. Well, even it's true that Tumblr are lack of SEO facilities/tools, actually you don't need to worry about Tumblr SEO.Tumblr, Medium, & Other Profiles are very useful to creat backlinks.

Develop a presence on those sites to spread the word, leading to increased opportunities.

But know this; if it is super easy to set up a profile on a site and publish content, the SEO juice is low aka weak. Anybody can set up a Medium account and publish a post in 30 minutes. Easy. Simple. Google does not reward easy or simple or else everybody would rank on page 1 and millions of folks would be in the running. Cheapens everything.

Strong SERPs sprout from getting backlinks from respected, authority blogs. I guest post for Blogging Pro and Blogging Tips. Both sites boast high Domain Authority scores. Each site owner only selects a few contributors; exclusive club.

Every time I scored a backlink through each blog, my DA at Blogging From Paradise gradually improved until I now have a very good DA of 42. Google rewarded me and my blog because I practiced writing, created helpful content and built friendships with the top bloggers in my niche, all of which inspired folks from these top blogs to invite me to guest post on those sites.

Publish helpful content on Tumblr and Medium but know the best SERPs flows from creating and connecting, focusing on success and accepting guest posting invites from top blogs in your niche, along with being featured on these top blogs.

    Hi there,

yes, it is a fact that all these mentioned sites are important from an SEO point of view. These are actually web 2.0 sites. Web 2.0 flagged an adjustment in which the internet turned into an intelligent ordeal among clients and Web distributors, as opposed to the single direction discussion that had recently existed. It likewise speaks to a more populist variant of the Web, where new apparatuses made it workable for about anybody to contribute, paying little mind to their specialized learning.

Not particularly, I wouldn't concentrate on them. They'are all no-follow links. Social signals are a minor factor for ranking too.

Creating a social media presence is good for the site. More presence = more traffic. But you will have to provide value though. Not just some crap.
