There is not a single most important ranking factor. Of course, nobody actually knows what the biggest are, but they seem to be quality, relevant backlinks, optimized content and user engagement, which is usually directly tied to the quality and amount of unique, helpful, authoritative content that satisfies the user's query.

If i had to pick out of the 200 factor that Google claims, it would have to be high quality/relevant content. It pretty much is the essence of your website. What good is a fast loading website if you don't have the information that people visit you for? Plus, better content means more time for them to spend around your website (dwell time) and the more they'll be enticed to keep clicking on the next article or view the next product on sale.

You should focus on creating content with more information than top ranking site's content and do perfect ON page optimization to that content.

The next ranking factor could be build backlinks from multiple high authority sites instead of multiple backlinks from same website.

These two factors will help to get top rankings on Google.

Ignore this. It's nonsense. You can rank just fine with low quality content too.

Dwell time is not a ranking factor. Wouldn't worry about that at all.

The #1 ranking factor in Google is the same as it has always been. Links.

I can rank a piece of content that is utter garbage with enough high quality links. The opposite is not true unless there is zero competition. You can't rank high quality content with garbage links. If there was any doubt, Kyle Roof proved it recently in a public contest where he ranked content that was nothing but lorem ipsum.

If you think you have Google figured out then it must be time for them to do another one of their changes and kick our sites to the curb and make use go thru the ranking process under the new terms.

As everyone know Google is in business to make money and they are an affiliate for just about any product you can think of./ You will see their ads on just about every page.

They do not like competition either Amazon and their affiliates that is why just like they said they would, they penalize as duplicate content I don't care how many backlinks you have. I have had products on page one and two for months then suddenly they fall out of the top 100.

You have to play their game or you are dead.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong

I believe one of the most important ranking factors is back links. I recently made a video that I wanted to get on page one of YouTube. Before sending back links my video was not on the first page, but after i sent relevant back links to my video, it not only made page one on YouTube, but also on the first page of Google.

Google says they consider 200+ ranking factors to rank a page.
It is very difficult for us to mention individually which ranking factor we should focus to rank No #1 on Google.
But the priority sequence can be as follows:

Page-Level Factors > Backlink Factors

To rank a page you first hit on Page level factors for example, keyword in title tag , keyword in description tag, keyword appears in H1 tag, content quality, content Length, mobile friendliness, page speed and so on. Then you can start to hit backlink factors to rank No #1 on Google.
