Guys Hi,

I have a question regarding SEO.

I will try to write my question as clearer as I can.

I am building backlinks for my website using various methods. One of these methods is through profiles from reputable website such as Firefox, Adobe etc.

My questions is:

Is it better to link directly to my website's homepage or is it OK to link directly to my money-page.

What do you think?

Link building can be a very risky strategy in 2019, and one that I would avoid until you have (at least) first dealt with the inevitable quality issues on your website. If your business or website content is not attracting organic links or social shares you may have a big problem on your hands, and unnatural links will not help you in the long run.

Thank you for your answer. I will elaborate on this further.

Unfortunately, you did not answer my question.

What do you believe regarding on link building from profiles. Should they point to the homepage or to my money-page.

And No they will not help you getting ranked, no matter where you point them.

They are not going to help your site rank better. The rule of thumb with backlinks is pretty simple ... if you can place the link, yourself, on somebody else's website, it's a worthless backlink for SEO.

So, to answer your question directly, point them at whatever page you want. They aren't going to do anything to help you rank better, no matter which page you choose!

Linking is one of those 'things' that seems to have come full circle in 15 years. First people linked to you because they liked your site - then we started 'building' links by contacting other site owners and 'reciprocal linking' - when that method was gamed, we used three and four way links trying to confuse google. We bought links on high ranking sites, joined link groups, spammed profiles in the hope of 'good links'....

As each linking method 'worked well' - it was quickly gamed and abused - and methods had to change yet again.

Now the best links - again (or is that 'still'?) - are from site owners that link to your site because you have something of interest on your site. Who would have thunk it?

I am aware that there are people who are abusing these methods, but if done right, they still work just fine.

I understand that profile links may not help you rank better after all, but they might help for building your website's DA - thus, helping your website rank better.

Anyway, thank you for your insights.

I think linking to the homepage is better. I believe it will give a visitor a chance to see what you do. It will help them make up their mind whether to move to the money page or not.

They are not going to enable your site to rank better. The standard guideline with backlinks is entirely straightforward ... on the off chance that you can put the connection, yourself, on another person's site, it's a useless backlink for SEO.

I think it's better to link to the home page. Do not immediately refer to the money page.

  • Hi,

Profile Back is helpful for SEO points of view. But it should not be from one particular section. The profile link from various source that help you.

I would build links to both. If you have a bunch of backlinks going to only one page on your site, it will not look natural. To have a more balance link profile, I recommend building links to the homepage and your money page as well.
