Disavow: How long it will take?

Hey warriors,

I have noticed some of spam links have been built for my website from adult based sites. I have collected the list of domains from search console & SEMRush. And updated the disavow file in GWT. So how long it will take to deny the disavowed domains?

It usually takes weeks or even months before Google even sees your uploaded Disavow file. Also, keep in mind that there are hundreds or even thousands of Disavow file that other people upload on Google on a daily basis. So you can imagine your file just floating in a pool along with other files submitted until Google would take notice your Disavow.

I tried myself for my own website and its been around 2 months now. Nothing has changed.

So, I can say there are no set rules for that.

Unfortunately, from my experience it can take about a few weeks.

Keep in mind that the disavow file does very little these days, unless you have been sent a warning by Google, which you would see in Search Console.

The latest Penguin algorithm filter ignores bad links, so chances are, they have no effect on your ranking anyway. You could wait for 5 years and your disavow file isn't going to help. The only thing that will help is getting better links.

Somewhere between right away and never.

Google chooses whether or not to disavow the links no matter what you submit.

Really though, you shouldn't submit a disavow file unless you have a manual penalty. Some of those links, despite them looking spammy, were probably helping your site to rank better. Bad idea to disavow links.

  • HI Friends

It takes about 48 hours for all the Google bots to take notice that there is a new Disavow file for your domain. After 48 hours, it can still take weeks or even months until Google re-crawls your disavowed links and takes the Disavow into account.

Pretending that "48 hours" figure wasn't pulled out of thin air or gotten from a highly suspect source, as I said before, chances are, it is going to do nothing to help you rank even after they have crawled it because they ignore bad links now - UNLESS you have been sent a penalty notice within Google's Search Console. You can wait 20 years if you want!

If you haven't received a warning within Search Console, the best thing to do is to leave it alone and continue to get real, solid, related links to your site.
