Full control over site breadcrumbs: add a piece of code and you're good to go.

Great, I'm happy to hear about this new WordPress built-in-features but Yoast is Yoast. Yoast has a lot of features and the best one is content readability.

  • Hi,
It is not necessary to use Yoast Plugin but undoubtedly it has many advantages over wordpress default options.
This plugin provide Complete SEO solutions for wordpress and used for improving our On-Page SEO.
We can use it for several On-Page SEO techniques:-
    1.Add Custom title.
2.used for adding suitable keywords and meta description.
3.Also helps to create XML sitemaps for our sites.
    4.Provide google rich snippet preview.
5.Also Provide social integration that allows us to choose the correct title and data for your posts.
    And many more......

So it is always preferable to use yoast plugin with wordpress sites.
But it is Solely your choice that you want to go with the default option of wordpress or with Yoast SEO plugin.

And as it comes about keyword , there are certain things that you need to take care while using your keyword that are:-

    1.What are your keywords?
First of all you need to know your Certain things before choosing your Keywords:-
a.Keyword should be related to your niche.
b.You can choose your keywords on the basis of their keyword volume.
c.What is the difficulty of that keyword.
d.you must include long tail keyword as they provide better ranking in Google SERP.
You can also use different keyword analyser tool that provide a great deal of convenience in choosing our keyword.

    2. Where to use them?
After choosing perfect keywords , second question arises Where to
use them. There are several places where you can add your
Keywords i.e. in URL , In H1 titles , In image alt tags , in meta
Description etc. You can go through to several guidelines that
    States where to use keywords.

    3.How to use them?
Now the question is how to use them? There are no specific
Limits or length described for using keywords in your content.
But using them in very frequent manner and repeatedly can make a
bad impression and can lead to keyword stuffing.

    Hope this will help you......

You can use it or not. Yoast makes things easier for most people. I do need to point out, however that search engines stopped using meta keywords two decades ago, so anyone still using those or who thinks that they are still important is just wasting their time.

It is not necessary but it is good for your site if you add Yoast plugin. It will manage many things automatically so you become stress-free after having this.

Thanks guys. To confirm, I installed Yoast and I am now seeing the usual Yoast SEO Ttile and Meta Description fields. So I should only fill in only those 2 fields and ignore the default WP fields?

Yoast should not be used on any site. Ever.

After how they screwed up last year, denied it, lied about it, and finally after 3 months admitted their mistake that tanked tons of websites, I would stay far away from them.

SEOPress is better. Much less bloated.

A lot of people like RankMath too, but it is a little too buggy right now for my taste.

    Hello mikehende

WordPress SEO by Yoast is the number 1 SEO plugin used by thousands of websites.

I pretty much use it on all sites I build for myself and clients.

It's very easy to use and has great features.

You can read the free version features here:
    https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/

It's definitely better than standard built in SEO theme options.

It allows you to set proper on-page SEO for every page with tips to make your content better for each page with snippets of how it looks in Google.

Yoast was the best... in its day.

It is not relevant to SEO anymore. If you are half-way decent at writing posts and paying attention to your on-page SEO what do you need Yoast for?

I noticed they finally got rid of keywod density but a lot of it seems old school and outdated. It is definitely bloated with a lot of things that won't help your SEO at all.

    Another fan of SEOPress though.

RankMath is quite new as well. Lots of new features available. But as mentioned here as well, it can still be quite buggy. Importing settings from Yoast is easy as well.

What are you suggesting? Are you suggesting OP that as Yoast is easy to handle so he should use it?

To OP I say if you have no clue regarding these things then go with 'All in one SEO Pack'. Its quite good for newbies.

Hey guys, one of my sites is showing duplicate meta info on Google.

The developer has looked into everything we can think of. I have disabled all plugins but same duplicate errors showing. So I have the Meta description showing for one page plus another listing for the same page showing "Just another Wordpress site".

Would it work for me to uninstall the SEO Press plugin and simply use the WP Meta info fields?

Seems to me the only use for SEO Press or Yoast is to follow their suggestions to optimize the pages, other than that it does not mean if your pages are already optimized that those plugins would offer any other advantage, is this not correct please?

      New site?

If yes, Google crawled it before you put anything in the meta fields. Next time Google crawls the site, it will read the meta info you put in and start showing that.

      No need to do anything.

That sounds like a conflict between multiple plugins (like you have SEOPress and Yoast installed at the same time) or a conflict between a plugin and your theme.

That or something is not configured right in SEOPress.

I would also check the general settings in Wordpress. "Just another Wordpress site" is the default description given to Wordpress sites on fresh installs. If you see it there, delete it.

They generally do a lot more than what is provided in just the WP Meta info fields. They have a lot of options for how you handle author pages, tags pages, categories, image attachment pages, etc. Wordpress absolutely sucks for SEO out of the box, which is why these plugins have become so popular and more or less necessary.

Yes. Yoast is popular for a reason. It gives you tons of flexibility over your site's content, letting you set up titles, meta descriptions, and social sharing information on a per-post basis. It gives you an easy way to set up a sitemap, adds some basic schema, and is generally pretty beginner friendly.
