How does the Broken Link checker plug in work?

Hi guys,
I have a terrible click through rate on my amazon affiliate store.

I notice that "broken link checker" plug in is active and lets me know every week if there are broken links.

But my question is..does broken link checker actually visit my amazon links and show as a visit without buying therefore impacting my amazon CTR?

    Although I do not know what the "broken link checker" program you are using does, it sure sounds like something that is unnecessary if it is constantly checking your site for broken links. We check for broken links twice a year, at most, for websites. I cannot imagine a situation where you are continually creating broken links on a website so much so, that you need a program to constantly monitor for them.

      I agree with this 100%.

      A broken link checker plugin sounds like a complete waste. It's just going to add bloat to the site and a potential vulnerability for hackers.

      Just run Screaming Frog 2-3 times per year and you will be fine.

    Why would you need a broken link checker at all? Is your site constantly creating links somehow?

    from a quick look at the source code, the plugin masks itself as a normal browser, visits the url and checks for the response code. most likely amazon counts these requests as visits.
