  • I think you need to work on the content. Perhaps making it user-friendly and engaging can reduce the bounce rate. But let's wait for some direction from experts. I am sure they will be reading this soon.

    • 70% of visitors leave almost immediately (they bounce) and you say that is not bad. I would really like to know what you think is bad

  • You can check this article "5 Ways to Decrease Your Bounce Rates"
This post will really help you.
In my perspective, you can either improve your existing content or rewrite it. Make sure your website is optimized for mobile.
  • Many of the other posters have covered some great ideas on improving bounce rate.

However, you might be focusing too much on bounce rate and not considering dwell time or the closest measure in Google Analytics "Average time on page" which you can find in behaviours.

Rank brain as it is understood is focused on dwell time among other things. So if you look at the relative reading time of the content on a page vs the dwell time, would you say the dwell time (average time on page) is high or low.

If your dwell time is low then you would have a problem but if people visiting a page are spending time reading your content then this will be a positive and would actually help to rank your pages higher.

So are the average times on the page high or low?

Test with a sample of pages by timing yourself reading the page and compare with what GA has for each page. If your reading time vs GA is about the same or GA time is longer then dwell time is likely to be higher and therefore a strong positive. However, if the GA time is short relative to your reading time then you have issues.

  • I think one of the cause of high bounce rate in the website is not only the visitors that didn't visit any pages, but they are not the target traffic for your site.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Bounce rate mainly can be reduced by providing the appropriate information to your customers. Even the navigation and design plays an important role in reducing the bounce rate. As such there are no particular parameters to reduce bounce rate.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Well I suggest you to work on your content & also try to find your niche audience and relevant target market. You may have audience form different industry and traffic your getting is not relevant so reach out to your target audience.
  • Bounce rate is not the number of people who view a single page and leave immediatley. It is the most misunderstood metric in GA.

If you want to find that out, you need to track your multi-page visitors.
  • There are many variations at play that the naked eye cannot detect unless you run a speed site test using pingdom to pinpoint the problems.High bounce rate could have anything to do with the quality of the content ,slow page load speed ,irrelevant content, spamming , your site could be hard to navigate.Run a site test
  • Make your content more readable. I would recommend installing Grammarly as it helps me a lot while writing content for my site. Also, the bounce rate is high due to users gets pushed off your site too early. Try your title and starting paragraph to be more engaging. In the end, bounce rate is all about user experience. If it is high, then your users and not satisfied with your content.
  • Hello Hemant,
Users are not spending enough time on your website and that's why your website's bounce rate is high. Check your content and make your website more optimized, check your high ranking keywords, make a site map for google's spiders so they can understand your website more and suggest it to the right user.
  • Start with analysis: look at your top performing pages (why do people click on them? what is the difference with other pages?), look at your worst performing pages (what could be wrong with them? outdated info, low speed etc), check your keywords (are you sure that you use right keywords and they correspond to the content of your website?), make a technical audit (there is a lot of free and easy tools to do it). When all technical issues are solved, consider bloggers outreach to get backlinks and attract new audience.
  • Is your content calls for user engagement? Sometimes the bounce rate is not a bad thing. A user searches for data and finds it on your website. Once he has the data, he leaves the site without visiting other pages on your website.

It shows your web page gave him exactly what he wanted and he does not have any other reasons to stick around your site.

It is common for information providing sites. The only solution is to show something as bait to get the user visit other pages.

  • I think
your content is not user-friendly and its readability is not comfortable with users. Work on readability and use bullet points to give the message . Don't use paragraphs
  • and if you can share the link of your site. I can guide you better.

  • If you getting good traffic but the bounce rate is not good, then It means your website not getting backlinks from the right categories as your business.

  • The reason the bounce rate might be high is due to the fact your website might not have a proper content.

Other factors include poor interlinking, no related posts and poor website design.

Concentrate on Good content and try to add relevant links to your inner pages of your website!
  • It is very hard situation when you work so hard and you made it but still you are struggling with the things which are not in your control. But not to worry so much you can improve on it in my suggestion you should pay more attention to your on page seo learn how to impress your audience with your content and presentation.

  • You need to offer more content, place widgets and menus in a better way, use some catchy titles, some interesting related posts, etc. User-friendly menu is very important! Keep that in mind.
  • You can hire a seo expert for this. I got the same results in my store. I worked with a freelancer and people who were really interested in the right keywords came to my site.
  • Google doesn't really look at your bounce rate but it is indicative of a "return to search" which is generally believed to be a negative indicator on user experience scoring.
  • According to your question, you have to work on the content present on your website. I hope that the content present on your website is not user engaging or the wording you are using in your content is not easy to read. This is the major reason that you have much traffic but still have a high bounce rate. One more thing that you have to take care of is that the title of your webpage is strictly matched with your content on the web page. Because if a visitor visits your website and don't find the relevant information then automatically exits your website immediately. I hope this information is helpful to you.
  • I would go with a promise of something free and a signup page, once inside and on your list, you can send them emails or give them survey to find out what they want.It is hard for us to guess what kids want.
    Good luck
  • Target the right audience as well as make engaging content so that you can reduce the bounce rate to an extent.
  • According to my point of view, You should improve your content quality and also increase interlinking on your web pages.
  • Other forum members have come up with some good advice and I would add that Neil Patel has some great articles on bounce rate e.g. https://neilpatel.com/blog/bounce-rate-analytics/
