Hi,
Though I am not a newbie, but yes still learning! I have just launched an Amazon affiliate based site and have started filling it with informative above 2000 words articles. Till now there have been around 20 such articles and I am already in process of feeding more.
But just wanted to know as how to gain traction with this start. It's a product review site and I think I should make some foundation links to Homepage so that it can gain some trust and authority of Google?
What you guys do whenever you launch a new site? What type of links are best to start with? (I am here trying to bring Organic traffic to the site, so please don't put me in other shoe)

  • Start with web 2.0's. Add relevant content to web 2.0's and you'll have nice first backlinks.

  • Also, post guests with backlinks to your site will do you fine.
  • It is important to build a wide variety of backlinks to your site. To start with, I suggest building links on pages with high DA (domain authority). The backlinks should be dofollow and contextual (surrounded by text related to your keywords/niche).
  • Place BL to sites which products you are going to review and ask owner for the same.
I'm sure they would do that gladly after all if you are going to place favorable reviews,
they would like their visitors to point to reviews prizing them and products.

  • If you are a good writer or hire someone which is professional in writing then reach out to the most popular influencers in your field, it will be the best start for you.
  • Google only gives SEO weight to a website's homepage when the in-bound link is a relevant dofollow link from another website's hompage. Period!

Google will in fact give SEO weight to a website's inner pages when the in-bound link is a relavent dofollow link from another website's inner page. Period!

    • Dofollow link??? What's that????

I don't see G. has been making any references to rel="dofollow"? It's talking about
rel="nofollow" and when it should be used but "dofollow" or "do follow" or "do-follow"...
Care to point to even one rel="dofollow" tag?

  • As usual, this is terrible advice. DA has absolutely nothing to do with the value of a link.

The only people who will tell you otherwise are noobs and low quality link sellers.
  • W3Schools is about Online Web Tutorials, i.e. not about SEO, and not about Profit, i.e. no skin in the game

Google is about web search, profit and SEO. It is vital that websites are organized in terms of user search, Google Profit and Google SEO, i.e. skin in the game.

The reason the SEO community at large makes a distinction between nofollow and dofollow is because beginners were confused about links.

Enter Google's new three rel attribute values that you link to. That is not about W3Schools of which I do not see W3Schools supporting. It is all about how Google wants webmasters to organize not in terms of user search rather in terms of increasing Google Profit and Google SEO.

In other words Google by imposing the rel attribute values has started a new tactic for Google to regulate how the SEO community will be forced to adhere to Google qualify your outbound links.

With that said, Google will not be able to impose a requlation on the SEO community to make a distinction between nofollow and dofollow simply because it already exists in the SEO community.

Are you still having trouble understanding?
