I look after a few websites in the niche equipment industry(b2b) and struggle with driving traffic that converts as the keyword volume is so low. Does anyone have any ideas or tactics for driving traffic from other sources - not keywords.

here is a few keywords that have the most traffic:
interpretation 12100
translation app 2400
event equipment rental 140
interpretation booth 50
simultaneous interpretation system 50
simultaneous translation equipment 50
simultaneous translation equipment 50
best simultaneous interpretation equipment 40

We are in the events and AV Tech industry.

Apologies, I meant to say - traffic from other sources - not keywords.

Try google display ads with keyword placement or try to find horizontal niche and drive traffic to that and then try to drive back to your site from banners

You need to use Q&A and social networking websites for this.

If you are selling to people who participate in business events like trade shows or people who run business events, linkedin would be good.

Ads in trade publications might work too.

    Or posrcards and newsletters.

So I am guessing you offer something beyond say Google translate. Specifically you deal with events and the tech industry meaning your tech / service translates from one language to another. And then you specialize in the tech industry say American engineers communicating with Chinese or say Indian Engineers at a manufacturing plant... am I getting this right?

To get more traffic to your website, I would advise diversifying your traffic sources so that if one traffic source ceases to exist, or drys up (so to speak), your store still gets traffic from other sources.
As for particular sources of traffic, I would suggest using some of the following, which include both organic (free) and paid methods of advertising.

Organically (SEO - Search Engine Optimization, Forum Traffic, Press Release/Guest Post, Social Media)
Paid (PPC, Google Ads, Facebook Ads).

It is simple, if SEO is not working, try PPC, paid facebook and other premium marketing strategies. It should be able to get you more quality traffic.
