Hi,

I am trying to fix my website issues and on some SEO checker I found out some issue that I dont know how to correct it , this is the issue:

3 PAGESWITH DUPLICATE META DESCRIPTIONS:

https://example.com/
https://example.com/?PageSpeed=noscript
https://example.com/index.php

How can I fix this when the first and third page are the same and second page with ?PageSpeed=noscript I dont know what is that.

Can someone help me with this ?

Thank you

  • Leave it to be. Is the example.com showing the correct meta or not? If yes then as I said.

    • Yes, it is showing correct meta but the problem is, my website was at the first place on google search when I had a better SEO score , now my competition corrected his issues and got better SEO score few points better then me and for most countries he is on the google first place , thats why I want to correct this issue to get back again on the first place with better SEO score.

      Regards
  • Hello Macanohosting, As all these pages are to be redirected to the same page, so we can target for all these urls on one single page i.e the main url.
  • Duplicate meta descriptions should be avoided at all costs. In fact, according to Mat Cutts of Google, it's better to leave meta descriptions blank rather than duplicate them.
  • That SEO checker doesn't seem that smart since it confuses the same versions of the same page with duplicate content.

What CMS are you using? Do you have an SEO plugin for it and the best settings?

  • when you duplicate meta description, it reduces your scope. Crawlers will think it is the same page. So the impact of the page to indexing and ranking will be minimal.
  • I don't see any issue regarding duplicate meta descriptions because Google mostly get the description within the content page and not in meta description.
  • You should avoid duplications on the website at all. In your case I think the best idea is using canonical links in the HTM header. For more details please follow the link.
  • Hey, buddy!

To correctly determine how your website's metadescripts are optimized, I recommend using software such as Screaming Frog.

This way you will know more precisely what problems you have with these settings.

  • Use redirect to direct all three pages to main url
  • Are you using Wordpress? If so, you may have made the change with Yoast and then some other plugin. This could cause your duplication. If the website is hardcoded, then it's as simple as heading to your <head> section in your code and deleting the second meta description.
  • Neil sucks. Don't use that garbage. The SEO score has nothing to do with your actual rankings.

Like was mentioned above, what you are seeing is not a real issue.
