Does Google Ban IP's?

Hey guys,

I have SEO hosting where you can switch up what IP's your sites are on.

But lately i've gotten lazy and put a few sites onto the same IP.

I was just wondering if Google bans IP's?

Of course I don't have an adult, scam, or virus site.

But i'm just curious - after all it is more expensive than normal hosting.

  • If you aren't doing anything questionable I wouldn't worry about having your sites on the same IP. The majority of sites are on shared hosting and rank just fine.
  • It does happen but it isn't very common these days given that a typical shared host on a clustered server can host 1000's of domains.

    • My biggest concern is just if someone hacked my site and before I could get it back to normal Google banned my IP, to drop the site, and then all my sites are gone.

I'm not techy at all so maybe that's totally unthinkable.

Good point, can't believe I didn't think of that.

I was thinking the other day about getting my account at Bluehost with some older sites put onto a dedicated IP.

Would that be a smart move or not?

Thanks so much for the advice guys,

      Zach

  • Google blacklists domain names, not IP. It is the ISP's that might flag and blacklist certain IP especially if the IP is involved with a lot spamming activities.
