Hi. I am building websites for local lead generation for example mycityplumbing etc. How would I add a google places listing for lead generation websites like that where they do not have an address I can let google mail the card to? If I get a po box would that work? Can you use a po box for multiple business listings or only one or a few? Is there a way to do it without entering the address and having it listed in the city on the maps for the local listings on google on there?

No, you can not use a PO BOX.. it has to be a physical address. You can use your current work address? and then simply hide the address from view. ( even if the work address would be your home address )

You then want to look at: https://support.google.com/business/answer/9157481? and follow those directions to set the "Area" of your service only business.

That's not really true. You absolutely can use a PO Box. It's against Google's guidelines, and may or may not last for long, but you can do it.

There is a company near me that has about 20 locations that I know of throughout south-central PA, northern Maryland, Philadelphia, and Delaware. Every single one of them is a PO Box at a UPS Store or some other postal type service location. They have been there for months that I know of.

BUT.. those not being an actual USPS PO BOX provide an actual street address ( Benefit #1 - https://www.theupsstore.com/mailboxe...onal-mailboxes ) This has long been an achilles heel for Google. One of the more recent attempts ( a year ago? ) that failed to correct this was to make it so you could only have one GMB account per address.

Google has tried many things to attempt to fix this but have failed... why they cant just Google search all the locations and their addresses and block them - well that wouldn't require an algorithm so that wouldn't work LOL

Technically speaking if you are an online only business you are not supposed to have a GMB acct anyways... but that's a whole other discussion.

Again, you are incorrect. You absolutely can have more than one GMB account per address. Tons of businesses share an address. All you have to do is look in the SERPs and you can see that what you said is not correct.

Many of my clients share office buildings with 20-30 other businesses. They all have GMB's.

Also, Google specifically targeted UPS Store locations a couple of years ago.

Having anything other than a physical location is not supposed to work, but it does. You certainly can be reported by a competitor and will then have to verify the location, so it may or may not last long. However, like I said above, using some sort of virtual location or mailbox address does work.

Purpose of google map is for people to find the local product or service places.
Google map (google place) is an advantage in SEO, you are able to create a lot high quality backlinks, but you must have a physical address to create a google map account.
Assuming that google approve your account, you can not hide your place since your address will show up when local people are searching something related to your services.

Thank you for the information. That may be the way to go with that then with the area instead of using an address on there. I will look into that.

Is the local lead gen SEO model still working well? It seems to be very saturated with new operators.

Doing wrong my business listing is not good for your business. It will eventually ranks your website rank low.

No, it will not rank your site low; it will cost you sales from the listing and/or interfere with sales from other sources.

@aarathi it seems that Google translate didn't work on you, try to check your message first before posting to avoid confusions.
