Ranking at the top helps the most; but what your title and url are also matter. A lot of things matter.

Here's Backlinko's take on it https://backlinko.com/google-ctr-stats and it has really interesting and useful stuff. Really.

Note: it doesn't talk about how to rank, just how many clicks you can expect if you make it to #1 (average) and how to get more than average.

Whether you do SEO for yourself or for someone else, knowing the stuff in this study will make you money.

Some very interesting stats in that article.

    A few favorites...

"In fact, we found that the top 3 Google search results get 75.1% of all clicks."

I know that statistic varies a lot depending on the research and the keywords tested but what never varies is the importance of getting near the top.

"We discovered, all things being equal, moving up a single position in Google increases relative CTR by 30.8%."

I used to use questions a lot in my titles but for some reason I have slipped away from it. I know for some keywords it makes a big difference.

In the article... "We found that titles with questions had a 14.1% higher click through rate compared to titles without a question."

Interesting thing about question titles, all my clients object strenuously to them. Their gut just says they're wrong.

Its a psychology thing. The human brain is wired to finding the answer to a question. In Writing circles... Sales Circles... and SEO circles I know it to be called the "Open Loop Technique" Open the loop with a question... close the loop with an answer.

This technique Creates clicks, Increase read times, and decreases bounce rates. It simply just works.

As you can notice on the detailed information of content from backlinko, it only shows that its not just getting more clicks but it will need further studies and analysis to get the appropriate clicks or traffic. Worth reading.
