Too many links pointing to our privacy policy page: Hurting our ranking efforts of main pages?

Hi community,

As per the "Links" report from GSC, there are millions of pages pointing to our privacy policy page. We can expect high number of links to this page being ours an open source product. But these links are overtaking the count of links pointing to our homepage which are very artificial from few spammy or low quality sites. "Privacy policy" anchor text is also been the top anchor text.

Our homepage ranking dropped and I suspect this is the culprit. Google might be considering this is the important page being linked on top with anchor text. Shall I Disavow these sites and will this makes Google stop counting links, and the anchor text coming from these sites as well?

Suggestions please.

Thanks

Why do you have so many links to your privacy policy? How many domains are they coming from?

Before you do anything, you should know the answers to these questions.

We are receiving almost 1.9 million from same domain which is of low quality and spam. Moreover those pages are not working...I mean the pages which are sending backlinks to us.

    Yes, you should disavow them.

Google will only ignore those unwanted links in your website page so it will not affect your rankings nor your reputation.

A one-line entry can disavow every page of the domain that is linking to that page. That said, It is not hurting the ranking of the rest of your pages.

Last month I disavowed 1452 links just by writing one sentence because they were all from the same domain.

Change the wording on the policy page.

How is that going to do anything to affect the "millions" of links pointing to the Privacy page?

The drop in rankings is very likely unrelated to your privacy page.
    Each page is ranked individually.

Google has a vested interest in changing the SERPs because people
people like unpredictable but familiar changes in the results.
