Hi,

So im using Rankmath as my SEO plugin and i have some chrome extensions.

On all of my pages SEO settings on Rank Math - it says i have no H1 tag - surly my main heading is a H1 tag?

I am considering going to my 1st H2 tag and changing it to H1? any thoughts?

But, Seo Minion, SEO Quake and MOZ tool bar all says the header title of my page is a H1 - little confused on how to proceed - do i listen to rank math or the extensions?

Thanks
#header

It really doesn't matter what RankMath tells you. Just look at the code. Do you see an H1 tag? If you see one, that don't worry about what RankMath says.

RankMath is buggy as hell. Plus most of these SEO plugins have trouble reading content if you are using a page builder like Elementor, Divi (flaming piece of shit), or Oxygen.

view source of that page and search <h1>

if there is a match, then there is a h1 tag on your page.

For many years, one of the annoyances with BigCommerce was that none of the pages had H1 headings. For some reason, BC made them all H2s.

It didn't affect ranking, either way, but it bugged a lot of people who came up with workarounds.

Google is not going to devalue a page because there is not an H1. Headings simply indicate the hierarchical structure of words on a page. All other things equal, a page arranged as H2 - H3 - H4 is going to have the same rankings as a page arranged as H1 - H2 - H3.

Focus on making the H1 and H2 readable for users over a computer. This will lead to better on-page stats. So if switching them makes sense from that perspective do so but I would not try to calculate if you will, the on page SEO.
