How many of you go through your Google Webmaster Console, look at what pages are getting traffic and the keywords that bring that traffic to those pages, and add keywords that make sense?


By 'keywords that make sense' I mean this:
1. you want the traffic they bring
2. you're getting a lot of impressions but not a lot of clicks.


By 'add keywords' I mean add content or rewrite content to include those keywords.

    I have been trying that exact thing with limited success. What I mean by limited success is that I have not done it long enough or scientifically enough to know when it is working well.

    Not enough time in the day...

    It could be niche related but I have a site that gets a ton of traffic on some pages and very little on others. Some of the pages with the highest impressions have relatively few click-throughs respectively.

    I have been adding related keywords, trying to improve the quality of the content when it can be, changing up and/or improving the meta description in case Google decides to use it.

    What I should also do is take a little more time to see what the competition might be doing better.

    Did I say, not enough time in the day?

    Yup, it does take time, but overall it's been worth it to me... Though, on some pages, the additional traffic does not correlate with anything.... So, not all keywords were created equal.

    The point to note when analyzing keywords is the synonym. As you can see (naturally you have to analyze, not look from the copy) all the words listed synonyms corresponding to the main keyword when searching, all return the same page / on the same location point.
    This is my tip for making content to saver resources. That means when analyzing keywords, if parsing more synonyms, you have the advantage, your site will be much nicer than the competition.

    For years now I'm skeptical about what is coming from G. mouth.
    I found that Awstats and / or Webalizer is giving me better and more
    reliable picture of what is going on and because data generated by server,
    I'm sure it's not regurgitated.by Algos for SEO hungry folks to swallow.

    I think people need not go this route if they can get the desired results by buying traffic. The route is manual laborous and tedious.

        Sure but it still doesnt guarantee traffic. So spending the money on buying traffic is the only route to success.

          Spending money on buying traffic does not guarantee sales.

          And, yes, the way I do it gets me traffic.

    Another approach is instead of or in addition to tweaking existing content, create new content that supports the page you want to boost. Build new posts or pages on related topics and create internal links toward that page.

      What a great idea! I can think of some instances on one of my sites that this method would work even better than just trying to juice up older content.
