Hi fellow warriors, I just got my first and final warning by Google this morning that my website's landing page is of poor quality, I don't understand this, I have tried to present the best quality I can and at present this is just a major put down, I knew that major changes were on the way but I didn't think I would be affected so now I have to do some major work to conform by their rules. Has anyone received similar? If so, what kind of changes did you implement to conform to their rules?
I am not going to give up, I will do what ever it takes to improving the quality as set forth by Google. If there is anyone experienced out there, I ask of one small favor if it's not to much out of your way, can anyone have a look at my home page and tell me if there is anything that I should do. I know I'm at the right place because in this forum we are all of the same breed and I'm sure that we all want to be successful in whatever business we're in, so if someone can please give me some advice about my website I will really appreciate that. I thank you all in well advance.
This is the URL: Patriox Website
Now I only updated this, this morning and I have already sent mail back to Google and am waiting for a response.
Thank you very much in advance, Pierro

  • Ok,

    Go to this tread http://www.warriorforum.com/ad-netwo...lower-cpc.html

    Read the reply by Simon,

Still you are not are not able to recover, leave the domain, Its been flagged, now nothing will work,
  • Hi pierro,

Are you talking about a low quality score in an Adwords campaign?

(actually, I just saw the link in the post above. Go there...it details what I was about to get into although probably a lot more elegantly than I )

    Cheers!

    Steve
  • Pierro,
I have a quick solution for you. If you don't even want to use your own landing page and deal with Google's BS then try Yahoo Search Marketing PPC. You can direct link to an affiliate landing page, have lower way lower CPC and usually more targeted buyers on Yahoo. Just don't use a landing page that has flash or popups as Yahoo doesn't like them.

    Andy
    • [1] reply
    • Yahoo is good option, has less traffic, you can direct link as well,

Converting is different story though. you need to test, I have campaign doing good at Google and yahoo its fail, another one canned at Google , getting good ROI at yahoo search.

  • Thanks for the advice, It's a bit of a downer but, I am in this for the long haul. so now that my domain has been flagged, does that mean I have to get another? Can I transfer my new website to my new domain? I am cut because of this, however, got to keep pressing forward.
Thank you for the advice. Pierro
  • Thank you very much cobra, you have raised my spirits, I will definitely do this...
I don't know what else to say.... I think I am going to hit the pub and think for a bit.
Thank you all fellow warriors, you are all tops.
    Pierro
  • You are not following Google's basic guidelines for landing pages...there is a lot you could change just by reading their guidelines. No need to get more exotic than that for starters.

You also have affiliate links in your sig...again, not following guidelines.
  • Hi Pierro,

Ryan Deiss has landing pages approved by Google.

I have a copy of one as an example to copy if you like.

PM me if you want it sent to you.

    All the best,

    Ewen

    • I don't know exactly what Google are looking for, but I know what I would look for.

You site is just a wall of boringly presented text with lots of grammar and spelling mistakes. Sorry to be blunt, but it won't sell anything as it is because no-one will read it.

You really need to start again from scratch. Think about what your site is for and why and then present the information accordingly.

For example: If you are aiming for a review type site you need to be more objective. You say at the beginning that "the products are of high quality". I think anyone that uses Clickbank knows that this isn't necessarily true. It would be more helpful if you explained, with illustrations, how to decide which are the high quality products.
  • Thank you ewenmack, I just PM'd you. Thanks again, Pierro
  • Hey pierro,

In all honesty, I think Google is probably doing you a favor right now and keeping you from losing money on Adwords.

Please don't take this the wrong way as I'm only trying to help you!

The URL that you linked here in the forum is NOT a good landing page. It's a sea of text and is waaayyy to general for PPC.

What type of traffic are you sending to that page? Forex traffic, affiliate marketing traffic, keyword tool traffic???

Your landing page must be super relevant to what the searcher is searching for. Your landing page talks about 7 different topics when it should be about 1.

On top of that, there is nothing that guides your visitors...no call to action...you need to TELL your visitor where to go next, not leave it up to them.

Now, if you're sending your traffic to the specific pages within your website...that's better. But, you still need to work on those pages. Right now your "reviews" aren't much more than a list of features for each product.

You really don't get me excited about any of them. What are the BENEFITS of each product? How did they help YOU? How are they going to change MY business/life?? Why are they better than the 1,000 other products out there? Why do I need it NOW? How and where do I get it?

I hope this makes sense...I know I rambled a bit. The key thing is providing valuable content and information to your visitors that is RELEVANT to what they are looking for on google.

If it's not exactly what they're looking for and/or it doesn't completely grab their attention within the first 5 seconds you've lost them forever.

Congratulations for taking action and getting your website out there! Most people don't even get that far so you're ahead of most. Now, just make a few tweaks and test. Either way...be prepared to lose a little money with PPC in the beginning until you get everything optimized.

    Hope this helps a bit!

    Best of Luck!
  • this may or may nor help

    no about us page
no resorces page ( links to external resouces )
it is a review site ( basicly most review sites are frowned upon ) to fix this you would need a load of content / articles to support the site
possible also add a blog to give it some udated content.
    incoming links

in short google wants to see full web sites, as it stands it more a bridge page where the only links out are affiliate links
  • Thanks all, talk about constructive criticism! This is all great information, I will get right on top of it, by the way if there is anyone that can fix this up for me, how much will you charge? I am interested for any offers.
    Thanks, Pierro
  • I just payed for yahoo ads and now I've paused everything until I get on top of this.
    thanks, Pierro
  • Hi Pierro,

I'll offer my congratulations as well for at least making a start.

Bossman34 is right on the money with his comments and advice.

When I went to your home page I noticed the same things he
did - namely gigantic paragraphs that are difficult to read in
the best of conditions, and to my old eyes, are unreadable, period.

If I stumbled on the page from some source other than here, I would
    have clicked away immediately.

Look, we understand where you are.

    This website is your baby.

You sweated blood putting it together and it's like pulling teeth to
    hear bad things about it.

I venture to say 95% of us have experienced the same
awakening early in our marketing careers with our first websites.

The great thing is... this is the worst it'll ever be. It will only
improve as you work on it and tweak it.

Please take these comments and suggestions in the spirit they're
offered. You seem like a nice person, honestly seeking help and
answers, and nobody that is anybody will cut you down just to
    be mean.

Hang in there, and you'll get it. It just takes time and a ton of work.

    • Piero,

People (who you should listen to) have already told you that the text is boring and hard to read.

But let's think this through a little more constructively.

Google are telling you that the page is of poor quality. That much is for certain, but looking at it from Google's point of view, what does that most probably mean?

Google are in the game of sending people to the most relevant pages according to the keyword they have typed in - and that applies as much to natural search as it does to pay per click traffic.

So they are bound to look at your page to see if it has any relevance to the keywords you are bidding on.

I have a free website where you can see what the search engines see on your page: Free Keyword Density Tool - Which Keywords do the Search Engines See?

Go there and type in the URL you gave us to look at.

What do you find? A page that has no discernible keyword focus at all! The only phrase that stands out at all is 'pay per click' - and with a keyword density of just 0.3% and no support words or terms used at all, it is easy to see why Google rejected your page.

When you create a web page, it is not enough to write a wall of text. Nobody (and especially not the SEs) is impressed by verbiage for the sake of it.

What we all want is relevant, interesting and enticing copy that makes us want to read on and go to other pages on your site.

We want an answer to the implied question that our original search suggested.

We don't want a page that does and says nothing and, as Google have pointed out, bears little relevance to whatever search term it is supposed to be helping.

There are several ways to make your pages more interesting to read and more focused on the right key words and phrases - check out latent semantic indexing at some time in the future. But for now, concentrate on tightening up your writing - 500 words that get to the point will be far better than the 1500 words that say nothing much you've currently got there - and making sure that every paragraph (5-6 lines max, by the way) has something to do with whatever keywords you are bidding on.

And use Keyword Hacker. It should be the first thing you do when you write a new web page or article - and it is totally free.

      Martin
      • [ 4 ] Thanks
  • Thank you heaps Michael, great words of wisdom, you have lifted my spirits once again, I am now even more determined to succeed, I love what I do and these things just make me stronger. I take the good with the bad in terms of what I am endeavoring, all this information is pointing me in the right direction, it would be a lot easier though if I can get my content right. That is why I am offering to pay for some quality content that I can put in my home page. Is there any offers?
    Thank you, pierro
  • well buddy for now if you have a adwords campaign running on the site, dlete that campign as mr G has asked, then refire when your new site is ready to dave your account being closed by G - good luck with it all
  • Thanks martin, I am onto it, I just emailed someone that had the same problem but has now had their problem resolved.Hopefully he can do something for me just so that I can buy time. What I mean by that is, if I can get my home page to be acceptable by the described terms mentioned in this post, then I can focus on other factors so as to eventually having a content rich site. All the post in this forum I don't take to heart, as I know you all just want to help and I thank you all for that. This is a good lesson for me and lessons like that I class as gold whilst many others would give up from that point, but not me. I started this thing about 3 months ago and have only started building websites with dream weaver for about 1 week, so what you see is all that I have learned within that week, for I had no understanding of using such a program and still am limited with knowledge. Ive only got 22 days left of the trial, so I have to get cooking. Thanks all for the valuable lessons that I have learned here today. Cheers, Pierro

  • No probs, addy, but I've got the sacrificial end of the stick in this case!hehe
    cheers, Pierro
  • Ok all my links has been removed now until I get something good, I'll keep you all posted.
    Cheers, Pierro
  • Okay Pierro, your page isn't necessarily poor quality but it isn't very user friendly. You have huge blocks of text without a break. There are several spelling errors and a couple of words that were run together without a space between them. You're also using a 9 pt. font that's really hard to read.

Google doesn't want to send advertisers to a messy site because it's bad for their reputation. The text below is fixed, my gift to you this morning. I cleaned up a couple of grammar and punction issues and got rid of the block-style formatting. I also changed the font to plain black rather than gray and made the header red. Just copy and paste. I'd bet a buck Google will approve you now. Good luck!

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • TravlinGuy, you are a real GEM! Thank you so much....I'm lost for words!
I am really EXCITED! Oh man whoooohooo.
    THANK YOU ,Pierro
  • Hello TravlingGuy, I copied and pasted your marvelous work of art and because I am new to web design and have been using dream weaver for only under a week, I discovered something! When I pasted the work and adjusted the font setting, everything on all the pages adjusted as well and so now I want to understand css in dream weaver a little bit more, thanks again you've knocked down two birds with one stone, I wont forget this!
Excuse me if i'm rambling a bit, you see I just cracked a bottle of red and have had more than my share.
    Thank you, Pierro signing off!

  • Hey pierro,
I'll throw one more idea out there as I just went thru something similiar, google gave my landing page load time a rating of poor. It's typically very fast except during peak times as I'm on a dedicated svr. What I did was pause the ad they rated as slow created a new similiar ad and changed the landing page, now it goes to the same page however the url is slightly different. In a matter of 10 minutes my ad went from a quality score of 5 to a quality score of 10 lower my cpc from .95 to .75, keep in mind this was for the exact same keyword. If they knock it down again, I'll do the same thing. I am however working on making the site faster however there are times when someone is dos'ing the crap out of me that it does slow down and periodicaly during peak times it slows down 1-2 seconds. Hope this maybe gives you some ideas.
  • I am new to this game, can someone explain what is a landing site to the noob.

    Sorry
  • you could even try BING instead of Google so you don't have to deal with it...and you'll still get good traffic. (and some lower prices for keywords would be nice)
  • Hi pierro,

I ran it through this tool which produces a keyword cloud. The most frequent word was affiliates and affiliate was also very high.

This may have given a bad signal to google.

    • My question is what is the keyword you're targeting. it's better to target one keyword per page. That way Google can index you easily. Keyword density per any web page (doesn't matter if it's article, blog post, web page) should be between 2% - 5%. Anything over 5%, Google will consider this Google Bombing, and that can get your website kicked into the sandbox for 4 to 6 months.

How do you calculate keyword density? Keyword divided by total word count x 100%. Remember that keywords in your link and titles count as part of the density. You want them in there, but use them judiciously within that density.

      That's just the keyword part.

When it's time to promote your website, you need to gain links naturally over the course of a couple of weeks to a month or so. Be careful software or websites that give you super fast links within days. SANDBOX! Some article submitters work that way.

Getting traffic is the goal, but you cannot do anything that would cause Google to think you're cheating their algorithms, even though that isn't your intention. So scale back on your main keyword for each page. In fact you may want to consider using different keywords on your other pages. You list a few products. The product name can be a keyword as well.

Then build links naturally with article marketing. RSS. Social bookmarking. I'm not saying you can't use article submitters to facilitate your article marketing, but use the ones that build links slowly. SubmitYourArticle.com is a good one. That's slow building links.

Articles make good, permanent backlinks. RSS feeds make instant but temporary backlinks because there are always new feeds every day, every minute. Maybe a smart combo of the too would be best. This, in my opinion, is best for the long haul. You won't really have to use pay per click marketing because you focus more on SEO efforts.
  • Hi all, I came back to update this posting and have noticed a lot of comments, thank you fellow warriors. I have updated my pages, however might need some more tweaking over time.Travlinguy has been a great help out of this whole thing and he has given me much more inspiration as a result. I am now using yahoo for my ads and my quality score is much better compared to G. In dew time I will pay a professional to build me a sick website.
A lot of things has developed since this whole thing has happened and now, I don't know what I did but I am getting 10 twitter followers per day, so thanks again everyone.Cheers, pierro

  • Hi robfoster, yeh, I totally agree with you, I just slapped a couple of hundred bucks down on Yahoo and I am getting more sales page impressions, so this is good.

And yeh, travlinguy did a great job, you don't get many people like that anymore. One promise I have made to myself is, when things start to get rolling and I can start earning, I am not going to forget travlinguy, I intend on giving him CASH, only because he is one of a kind and the best person I have experienced on the internet fusfar.
I am going to be enrolling for a marketing course very soon and being a single parent of two boys, I am eledgable to receive a business course from the government worth $10,000, (( NEIS) New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) so definetally going to take advantage of that.
    Cheers, Pierro
  • Oh and I am currently working on a logo for my website, so excuse the crappy one I have at the moment, I know it looks scary!

  • @ travelinguy - That was really nice of you to do that for Pierro.

@Martin.Avis - Thank you for putting up that keywordhacker dot com site, and making it be free.

    Gotta love the warriorforum

  • It would appear to me, that your page is NOT very specific to ONE thing. I dont see any keywords there that could possibly be used, and even if there were, MANY would be UNRELATED!

I also bet you are NOT using any context in your ads that are on your page either.

personally speaking, you need to be more specific at what you're doing.

Your page if I landed on it via google adwords, I'd close the browser, since chances are, they're not related to the ads properly

Don't give up on adwords, if done properly, is more profitable than MSN and yahoo combined!

Your title tag is LAME! You need to change this to your main seed keyword(s)

Your description tag is again, LAME and completely wrong.

    <meta name="description" content="Privacy policy" />

You need to stuff your description in here that's related to your page, and structure it with a few keywords.

Plus you have no keyword meta tag in here.

Check mine out. this gives me 7/10 to 10/10 QS

  • Hi fellow warriors, thanks askloz, I am currently working my keywords and title tags, I don't have much knowledge here but am quickly picking things up. You must understand, I have only started building websites for about 1 month or so and prier to that have never built a website before. I have only been using dream weaver for about 8 days and I am learning fast. I am getting there slowly but surely. Thanks heaps for your input.
