Customers are Getting Blocked by Webroot

I am currently working on a client´s site and she just comments to me some customers are complaining they are getting blocked from accessing the site by WebRoot by telling them the site is NOT safe.

The site is running an SSL certificate and this is something that just popped as everything was working fine a couple of days ago.

Can this be caused as a result of a negative SEO campaign? Can someone buying crappy links from places like Fiverr or SEOClerk be able to do this? Can toxic links point to the site result in this?
Thoughts?

Go here to check the status of the site. https://www.brightcloud.com/tools/url-ip-lookup.php

You can request a change in rating if needed from the results page.

It would be good to do a thorough security check of the site for malware, bad plugins, etc. Depending on the situation, a security person may be needed to help clean things up.

Having an SSL certificate does NOT secure a site in the sense of protecting from scams, malware, etc.

SSL does not protect a site at all. That has nothing to do with it.

The easiest thing to do is to contact Webroot. They have a process for reevaluating sites. I had the same thing with a brand new site last year. Within a few hours they took a look at it and removed the warning their software was throwing up.

On the other hand, if this is not a block set by Webroot, what else can be triggering this issue?

Well, as I found, sometimes good sites would be getting warning depending
on browsers people are using, based on browser's configuration and ability
to recognize as it happen to be perfectly legitimate SSL

As to if that would affect SEO, then no because crawlers don't care about SSL.
