How to properly structure a website internally?

Hello, I am running a supplement review blog. What's the proper way to structure and categorize the products for a better website/SEO structure?

my posts are usually (*product name review*), if a certain keyword is competitive, I assume I have to create multiple high-quality content around that same keyword. My question here is, should it have it's own category? or they all can be in the same category as everything else?

Example.

OptiMen review, this is a multivitamin brand, should this and all the related posts which I will create about this brand be in the category where I have reviewed all the other multivitamin brands or they should have their own category and call it for example, 'Optimen category'?

And what's the proper way to internally link them, if let's say I have created about 4 posts just for that particular keyword/brand/product or whatever? should it be like page 1 links to page 2 and 2 links to 3?

What's the proper way to link them? Thank you in advance.

  • Hi, if you've multiple reviews on the same product then yes you could have them all as one category and have them all in a drop-down menu. You can do this pretty easily within menus in WordPress. To correctly internally link your posts you need to:
    • Go to the post that you want to link with
    • View it
    • Copy the link from the address bar
    • Return the post that you're currently on
    • Highlight a word that relates
    • Then link to your post

  • I am just confused about the structure. For example this picture.


    on my website, I can't visualize it. Because I will be writing a lot of content, I am not sure it would be a problem to put all the product reviews that I write into one category. But the important 'money pages' would be there in the menus. is that how it should be? That's what I am confused about.

  • Do you have enough articles around "Optinmen" to treat it as a separate category ?

    If you have just 4-5 articles, I would suggest to keep it under the multivitamin category. (Maybe you can use Optinmen as a tag)

    However, if you already have or plan to create a lot of content around "Optinmen", I would treat it as a separate category.

    There are no hard and fast rules.

    You can also change the category in the future but the url structure of the article matters.

    1."www.domain.com/post-name"
    2."www.domain.com/category/post-name"

    If you use the first url structure, you can change the categories in the future if you need to.
  • I think you have to categorize your products, for example, you can make a new category page of whey protein and put all whey protein of different brand in this category you can do this for mass gainer, pre-workout, post-workout creatine etc,
    and make sure your all category pages internally link to each other, so the value of DA passes to all pages.
