Google search ranking changes based on location where search came from?

I'm searching a couple of keywords and when I do the search from within Dubai (where I am located) I get results. Then when I use the Global Google Firefox extension and ask it to show me the USA results, I get different organic results...

What factors are in play here?

    because each google site is different, on it's own ip.

    The searches are geo targeted to location, unless otherwise selected to use a different one, ie, .com, .co.uk, etc, each country has it's own search results, which are more targeted to that geo location.

    most sites with .co.uk are indexed in googles .co.uk, googles canada site, most sites listed in results are .ca, and so on.

    if you want to rank in the other search engines, get links from those with different domain extensions and hosted in those countries you want to rank in.

    You could buy several domains with the same keywords in them and host them in different countries - then link them together to improve your rankings.......
