Hi y'all

Can it profitable to start a 10 page mini-site in 2021? Do they still work?

I would like to use SEO to rank my sites and build an email list through my website.

Is this still possible? or are mini-sites dead?

Thanks

    Hey there

I'm not quite clear what the ultimate goal of the site would be? Is it purely to collect email addresses, or are you trying to monitize the site with ads/affiliate links?

To attract a decent amount of traffic to you would need to add enough high quality content to use SEO and rank for keywords (depending on how competitive your niche is).

it's main objective is to collect email address via a popup squeeze page. i don't have any affiliate links on my website. they're all in my autoresponder series.

It's ridiculous to think that anything has changed in 2021. In fact, practically nothing has changed in search in the last decade. The only difference between 2011 and 2021 is that far less of the blackhat SEO stuff works now.

Google does not rank websites, they rank web pages.10 pages, 20 pages, 1 page, 100 pages. It doesn't matter.

It's quite fun to read articles like "Look here new tools and approaches 2021! It changes the market..." when they are about SEO.

Even Google Adsense have increased their requirements for acceptance, a 10-pager may have a hard time most of the time, but they are still viable as soon as you pass the requirements. In fact, personally I feel 10 pages is not much, but around 20 is a sweet spot to go on this process.

Is it possible to have a one page micro site that ranks in Google?

like 1 blog post that ranks, about us, privacy policy, contact us?

I wouldn't say so, unless the keywords you're targeting have literally zero competition...

Very low likelyhood you could rank on page one. Chances are less if you are in a competitive niche. You can use Ubersuggest or SEMrush to see your keyword difficulty.

    Let me see.
If I tell you it will work, but you'll go ahead and try then fail, you'll call me a liar.
If I tell you it won't work, but you'll go ahead and try then succeed, I could
    damage my reputation.

    So... hmmm...
You know what - call me a liar.

10 posts is not bad, but it depends how well optimized your site is. If you have a 10 page site that looks like its from 2005 is not going to rank.

Apparently, only if it "looks like it is from 2005" because, you may not have heard, the Googlebot now has eyes!

You just got to wonder how sites like CraigsList and Wikipedia still continue to rank.

They're curvaceous and now that the Google bot's got eyes, it can see that!

Yes they are look like 2005 creations because 98% of web sites still build
using Dreamweaver. AMRAY Web Directory has and I don't think it will be
          charged soon or at all.

As to G uses now eyes, the problem with that it uses on the back of it head.
To me it's just another G's jump when it wants you to jump simply because
it wants to keep you busy. There is no benefits for 98% of Joe Public users.

I think if that is new and unattached niche for you you can still consider that and try your tactics and see the results. I believe you are the one who knows the best what exactly you need or want and how you can check if that is working for you or not.
