Question on building a linkwheel, I need advice.

I have never built a linkwheel, and I was talking to someone about them and they said something about waiting for awhile to build it. They said something about getting some other back links done first and then putting up the linkwheel.

As I think about it, I can't understand why it would be better to wait to build the linkwheel. Can anyone supply any feedback on this? Is it better to wait? And why? I am also open to hearing any other feedback you have on linkwheels, of any kind.

    The links will be picked up gradually. Honestly you're better off just having high PR backlinks, rather than making a link-wheel.

      Other than the fact that you would be building another set of properties that can be used in the future when you need a backlink or two

    I normally prefer to build linkwheel together with my authority sites, and my linkwheel in most cases are just web 2.0 properties, not necessary linking them together.

    My authority site will be using major keyword, and linkwheel will be tons of long tail keywords.

    Building all links to the wheel and your major site at the same time, but your major keyword won't rank in 3 to 6 months while the link wheel will start to bring traffic in 3 weeks!

    Why wait, just do it.
