How to show up in Youtube Searches

Hi, everyone,

My name is Kees. I just started a Youtube channel about 3 months ago. I've been posting a video once a week. Although I may say so myself, I think the content of the videos is very educational and I wouldn't call the videos professional like what I would see on TV, but close to it. I'm spending a lot of time on making these videos.

My question is how does one come up in the ranking of the video. I'm trying to learn this. There is so much information out there and it's a bit confusing....

I would love to get some good ideas from you all.

Blessings,

Kees

I've worked with many creators over the years. They have shared various common creative strategies with us that help them make great videos and build a loyal community. We call them the "Basic 10", which have been broken down into 2 categories: Gaining viewership; Keep the audience happy.

I think you should try to start joining a community, and often comment positively on other creator content channels, so that you can be easily recognized

Try to analyze first the competition within the related Youtube searches lists and understand your target users journey and expectations. Create a more compelling video that is more interesting compared to other competitors videos in searches.

Consider using such programs as TubeBuddy & VidIQ for YouTube video optimization. Both of them have a lot of tutorials & live streams. I am using TubeBuddy & I am happy with it. Just don't stop & keep on producing new videos.

Quality videos get more clicks and views.
Use your keywords in your tags, but consider only using about 10 of the most relevant keywords.
Descriptive titles make a big difference in YouTube channel traffic.
A description with keywords works with your title to draw people in.

You can trigger the algorithm to start ranking you by driving traffic to your videos to increase views and also having those viewers view your videos for an extended period. It is a chicken and egg kind of thing. You gotta invest to drive traffic first to get traffic back, unless you already have your own following

If you haven't optimized your videos for search, people won't find and watch them or subscribe to your channel, which negatively affects your ranking.

Some of the factors YouTube uses to determine the videos that get to the top of search results pages are, number of views, positive comments and ratings it gets, as well as the number of views and the length of time people spend viewing.
Besides those, they also look at how often the video is added to the playlist or favorites list, and the number of times someone embeds it on a site.

To come up with the high numbers YouTube requires, optimize your entire video (tags keywords, description, and title) so users push Play after clicking through. Here is what you should do:

#1. Be sure to choose strong keywords; use the Keyword Tool for YouTube to select the best ones as keywords assist YouTube in determining whether or not your content is related; they also tell the audience about the video. Keywords should also be in your description, tags, and title.
Let your tags be not less than 9 that includes names of any person in the video, location of shooting, video content, and category.

#2 Always put keywords in your title, enabling viewers to know what to expect prior to viewing. However, make sure your title isn't too long. Titles that are too long cause people to lose interest and ignore you.

#3 Include keywords in your description, naturally weaving them in and not forcing them. The description should flow smoothly without a spammy appearance due to over-used keywords (stuffing), which amounts to poor etiquette.

#4 Your video's face is the thumbnail, so be sure to have one that's custom-made, as opposed to the automatically generated screenshot that YouTube provides. Take the time to create one yourself that's 1280 x 720 in resolution and 16:9 aspects in ratio.

To make your videos appear in searches you need to have quality videos, research and find out the potential keywords, use keywords in tags, title, and description, research your competitors, keep posting videos regularly, and also share it on social media.

proper keyword tagging wiht both short and long tail keywords is the single best strategy! At least from my experience. Patience is key and sharing the URL is also important. Good luck!
