The rankings of our many keywords drastically fell from Friday in the U.S. What could be the reason?

Our primary keywords were ranking on top position in the U.S. (Ahrefs) but half of them took a wild plunge in ranking. Many of them don't even rank in 100 now. Now, the number of visitors has declined sharply too. However, there are other keywords that are still in top position.

What could be the possible reasons? I checked Google Search Console, and there were no errors in the security and manual actions pages. I have no idea why this happened. Is Google penalizing us? Although our content is similar on most pages - because we are writing for the keywords of same niche - they are in no way duplicated. We also have not used Black Hat SEO.

Looking for help!!!

I had the same for my website 2 weeks ago. My site traffic was 2.4K on average as per week in september. In first 2 weeks of september, It kept on falling and went to 1.2K in just 2 weeks, which was a huge blow to me. I was confused what to do, what I found was, I lost a number of links in ahrefs that according to me were possibly holding my content pages. So, I made a few changes in my work pattern, and started adding quality links. To be honest, the links haven't played any role. But my site's overall traffic was recovered in next 2 week. Now its 2.1K.

So, according to me there is nothing much to worry about. Give it time, if possible have a look at these Just once.

    1. Check for Lost links on Ahrefs
    2. Check If there are any Web Vitals Issue. (My site had a few, and my pages were indeed affected).
    3. Check if any element/page (that is now deindexed) is blocked by meta noindex tag of robots.txt.
    4. Check if Sitemap is submitted. If not (Request Indexing for the same).

One Tip:- Check out for the performing pages in google analytics, If the average number of user per page has also reduced, if this is the case, try optimizing the On-Site structure). Follow this, if the ranking of keywords do not go up or recovers automatically.

Also, Generate some new ideas as well and increase the blog frequency if you post blogs.

I used to post 2 blogs a week. Last week I posted 5 Posts and Voila every blog started ranking on the very next day I published it. Also recovered my site.

I hope the same works for you.

There was a Google ranking algorithm update that started rolling out on October 26. You simply do not rank as well for some keywords as you did before!
