From a user end point, shorter domains = less typing needed.

The length of a domain name has absolutely NOTHING to do with SEO. It also has ZERO to do with user experience!

The length does not directly affect your SEO.
But it certainly affects the user experience, and user experience is an important factor in SEO.

The domain must be easy to remember and spell for your visitors.
The ideal length of a domain name is between 15 to 17 characters.

Two separate things - SEO-wise, the URL length is irrelevant.

Marketing/Branding side - length is somewhat irrelevant, it really is more of a case by case basis. If your brand is Roger's Cool Shoe Shop and you register RCSS dot com as your domain - yes its shorter, but now you are expcting people to remember that RCSS = Rogers Cool Shoe Shop - where as if you just registered Rogerscoolshoeshop dot com while longer - its just easier to remember. Harder to type in for the user but easier to remember.

Keep in mind unless your site is one someone visits daily - its highly unlikely they will be typing the url and more likely they will search for it as they need it. Also if your site is a site they visit all the time, once they get there a few times, it will be cookied (ideally) and the browser will autopopulate when they type.

As Dave told you, for SEO it doesn't matter.

You may want one over the other for branding, mainly if you are doing a lot of print advertising or TV and radio ads.

Ignore the people who say to go with the shorter one because it is easier to type in. It's not a great reason to choose a domain name.

Almost nobody types in domains anymore. If they are trying to go to your site, the browser autocompletes them if they have been there before, and if not, they just search for you.

Hey,

Ultimately, you should be looking for what is memorable and brandable. As others have mentioned, for SEO this does not really matter unless your domain name is an exact match keyword. For usability, the shorter domain will be best as long as the word itself is something user-friendly and not a bunch of letters.

Out of curiosity, which one did you choose?

Hello,

"it's not the longer and shorter domain, What is the best domain name length?
Aim for 6-14 characters - and remember the shorter, the better. Most likely the shorter domain names are taken a LONG time ago and sold for thousands of dollars. If you can't find something short, make it brandable."

Shorter domain is the best choice, Because shorter keyword will finding. Most of the web user search by short keyword.

Domain names don't have any impact on SEO and your organic ranking, so you have the freedom here to decide which fits more you requirements, and what would be the better choice for your audience.

I usually prefer shorted domain as they are more easy to remember and they stick quickly in the memory, so because of it I would go for this option, but it won't be a mistake if you select longer one as well.

There's no correlation between domain length and SEO, but to make it easier for the audience to memorize your domain, go for the shorter.
