Google manually changing meta data in SERPS ...

For the past four months, Google has been manually changing my meta title tag to "Loading - Edabit". It will alternate between the actual title I have set and the "Loading" one.

I understand that Google will occasionally A/B test these things, but I feel like it's been taking far longer than I would expect for the algo to determine the tag I have set is actually the more relevant one.

  • So, what's your question? Or, are you just here to vent? There's nothing you can do about it. Google does what Google does and it's not something they are doing "manually", it's an algorithm that does it.

I must admit, the "Loading" part of it is strange, as if it is a reaction to a slow load time or something.

P.S. I checked the site out and it didn't have the "Loading" one when I viewed it.
  • did a poke around... By chance are you seeing issues with pages with titles that include "// Edabit" Seems to me there is somehow an issue there. Being a programmer, I cant think of a time I used "//" in anything other than programming. It might be a glitch of sorts. I can see where all of the Title tags I saw included the "//" and none of them were displayed as such.

    I am seeing things like:
    Loading - Edabit
    Beginners Tutorial - Edabit
10,000+ Coding Practice Challenges - Edabit

And again looking at those pages code "//' is present and not the "-"

I would remove the "//" and see where that gets you

    Hope that Helps!

    • This is great advice and also aligns with my own suspicions. Thank you!

I'm going to try this and report back.
