    Hi daglawy,
There is no real answer. But, depending on your niche, you will want to have at least a 1000 or 2000 searches per month for the keyword you want to target. So 27 100 is plenty.
And you also need to have a look at you competition. To do that type in the keyword in google and have a look at how many sites comes up. The number should not be more that 10 000 if you are a beginner.

If you have a big number of searches but also a great number of sites ranking for that keyword, it might be a good niche, but you will have a hard time getting ranked. In that case, it is better to look for a less popular keyword but that still gets some traffic and has less competition.

As a rule of thumb, if you have at least 1000 searches per months for your keyword and there are less that 10 000 sites showing up for that keyword, you do stand a chance to get a good ranking in google if you do some SEO.

At least, this is a rule I have been following.

    Wishing you good luck.

    Marit

  • Don't look just at the numbers look at the market. Thats a ton of traffic for certain products if the keyword is very specific and that's next to nothing if the keyword is general.

Some say that what is important is top 10 results and not 10,000 or 30,000 competing websites, some say that you need to look on how many competing webpages you have.

What i would do? I would look at no more than 100,000 competing pages and look on what websites show in top 10. If these websites are big name websites like Wikipedia, Yahoo Answers or Amazon, i wouldn't hope to rank in top spots.

The answers you get here aren't going to mean much unless we know whether that keyword traffic is for an exact match. Did you select EXACT in the menu at the top of the column for searches per month?

thanks to all for these very helpful information

    @jayveen :
i didn't even recognized that "match type " column until you have mentioned it
so what is deference between these options

    thanks

As far as I understand it, broad match is where the words will match but in any order, and possibly not all of them if you have a long tail. Phrase match is the words must be in the same order, but may be preceded or followed by other words. Exact match is the words you are looking for match exactly.

Best to use exact or possibly phrase. Broad match can wildly exaggerate the number and is almost meaningless.

Exact is basically matching word for word - or matching the phrase.

    thanks bigcat
but of course i know what is the word means
i mean what is deference between these options for seo
ie : when to look at the phrase option for example and why and what the deference in results for each option should mean .... etc
