A forum search will lead to multiple discussions of SEO SILO, etc.

    A quick google search of

    silo structure

    SEO silo structure

provides both explanation paragraphs and sites with full examples

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Firstly, what an interesting topic I must say. Secondly, A SILO in SEO stands for "Structure Information in Logical Outline." It is a technique used to organize a website's content so that it can be more easily understood by search engines. When done correctly, a SILO helps to improve a website's search engine ranking and visibility.

There are three basic steps to creating a SILO:
    1. Identify the main topics that you want to cover on your website.
    2. Create subtopics that fall under each of those main topics.
    3. Ensure that each subtopic is integrated into the overall structure of the website.

For example, let's say you have a website about peanut butter. Your main topic could be "creamy" and your subtopic could be "traditional" or "organic" as see you below:

    Peanutbuttersite.com/creamy/traditional/
    Peanutbuttersite.com/creamy/organic/
    Peanutbuttersite.com/creamy/lowfat/
    Peanutbuttersite.com/creamy/jellyhybrid/
    Peanutbuttersite.com/creamy/honeyroasted/

    I hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Adam

I love that in an SEO forum, there are so many people that don't know how to use Google.

I think that if you are already down the path far enough to ask questions on [and understand] SILO Structures, you're probably ready for this:

    A Silo is simple:

You've got 'money pages' you want to rank - Products, services, locations etc.

To rank them, you build informational pages that can rank for longer-tail phrases on their own without a whole lot of on-page magic or off page link-building...

You internally link those informational pages up the funnel to your money pages within the content, whenever it's contextually relevant to do so. You keep doing it to build an internal linking structure, similar to Wikipedia's internal linking...

Google rewards you for providing your site visitors with a lot of useful information that's easily accessible by clicking the related links on your website. It's literally that simple if you understand the concepts in that article I mentioned.

With a silo structure, you group all the pages on your site into sections by topic and build those separate groups of information. This is different from the standard "flat" structure that many sites use, where most of the pages are placed directly in the root folder.

  • In SEO, a silo structure is a sort of website design in which material regarding a given subject is grouped, isolated, and interlinked. On your website, this results in tidy, separate parts of the linked material.

A silo structure is a type of website architecture. A silo structure for SEO requires a parent page on a specific topic and child pages that have content surrounding the topic and internally lined. It is like creating categories and subcategories for your site and group all the pages into sections by topic. Having a silo structure will guide users and search engines throughout your website in a clear and understandable manner.

  • The silo structure refers to the way content is organized logically on a website. Hierarchical groupings include topics and subtopics. You can think of it as creating categories and subcategories on your site and writing relevant content for them.
