Is it Safe to do Link-exchange ?

Hello there,

I've been carefully doing Link building "white-hat" from some good sites for over a year now, and so far it's been successful.

Along the way, I've had a few opportunities for acquiring links from some pretty big good sites. However, they were asking for "direct link exchange". (no A-B-C)

So I'm wondering, is it safe to do some link exchange now and then? Or are there any special ways to do it correctly?

Please advise if you have done this in the past on several occasions without any google penalizations.

  • It is "safe", however, I'm not sure it accomplishes anything SEO-wise. Still, if that other site can send good, targeted traffic your way, go for it. Definitely make sure it is a relevant, related site and not a "bad neighborhood".

  • Exchanging backlinks from same websites is not good if we do it excessively.
  • Well its not a problem just that the site you exchance sites to not be bad or hated by google for spam etc .If they are decent and non spamy etc they are good to go even if they are smaller like you in value

  • Link-exchange is still quite common. It's very natural for websites to link to each other in certain situations. But it's not mean that you can exchange links excessively.

    Google's Webmaster Guidelines clearly state that excessive link exchanges are against their terms.

    You shouldn't be too focused on any SEO benefit. Instead, the focus should be on relevancy.

  • Link exchange with quality site will give good impact but if the page with more than 20 links will give you negative result by Google. So better avoid.

  • Link exchange helps but one-way links are the best. Exchanged links give a lot less link juice compared to one-way. I personally think it's better to improve your site content and user-friendliness in order to get one-way links rather than investing your time asking around for link exchanges.

  • Link exchange is totally safe and great means for link building. You just need to make sure that website you are exchanging link from is worthy for an exchange that's it. Some metrics that you need to check before exchanging is host website's stats (keywords, top pages, traffic, DR and UR).
  • It's good to do link exchange.
  • If you will hear any real case that somebody is banned in Google because had list of links for various sources (as link exchange) it should be published and studied carefully by all Internet world. All other things are just private thoughts of people who make commenting. For sure if you are making in "professional way" reputation of your partner is also values. I have possibility to put dofollow links on website DA50, spam 50 according to MOZ. Didn't decide is it reasonable)))

    Let's say I have SITE A and SITE B. Owner of SITE C comes for a link exchange with my SITE A.
    SITE A links to SITE C and then SITE C links back to my SITE B.

    0 footprints.

  • In my point of view, link exchange is a safe method for link building.
    When you link exchange to others, make sure sites have good domain authority with less spam score. In contrast, excessive link exchange is bad for website ranking.
    Moreover, also focus on quality backlinks from other off-page tasks.

  • In my opinion, link exchange is the best and safer only when you are using the right ways. It makes link exchange beneficial to acquire references, traffic, and pass quality link juice.
