A new article on Search Engine Journal says that reliance on SEO alone to reach your marketing isn't a winning strategy. Here are some specific reasons why - and what to do about it.

While SEO is critical, reliance on search alone to reach your market isn't a winning strategy. Instead, the importance of connected and dynamic digital-first strategies - as adaptable as the consumers they aim to engage - is now crystal clear.

Content Marketing

Truly great content is naturally engaging. It answers top-of-mind questions throughout the consumer life cycle, and consumers seek it out across any number of platforms. From ebooks and podcasts to how-to videos and feel-good social posts, content marketing has evolved from blogging alone. When marketers and communicators work closely with SEO, using insights from search terms and placing consumers at the very center of their content strategy, they have the best foundation for success.

Digital Advertising And Pay Per Click (PPC)

Remember, while separate channels with distinct attributes SEO and PPC share a common goal, attracting consumers to your website. Approaching search holistically, ensuring SEO and PPC complement each other, will help you to navigate the changing environment, pivoting as needed in real-time.

Social Media

There is no question that social media sites are highly authoritative, as such setting up branded profiles across Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter has the potential to secure additional search results, supporting your SEO goals.

Brand Management

Every interaction a consumer has with your business, whether marketing, communications, virtual or person-to-person engagement, contributes to overall brand perception. If you don't manage your reputation online, your SEO efforts will be wasted. Why? In short, consumers trust user-generated content. Online reviews help you to build a good reputation, going back to SEO, this is incredibly important to local results.

Email Marketing

Great email marketing provides an opportunity for brands to engage consumers in their space on their time, fostering relationships with prospective, current, and past customers, in a highly controlled environment. You can choose to deploy emails based on trending topics of the moment and again, it's something that's easy to keep a pulse on leveraging SEO data as the voice of your customer.

I agree with this because SEO takes longer to have an effect. Better User Experience Helps - I think this is more about usability than UX though. I don't think it's the same

I am 100% agree and i want to post this an advice for newbies .I think in the begining its a wrong strategy to put all your eforts to build an income from seo as it takes months to rank or even more that 1 year and if you hope for a decent income you will go crazy .I think you need to combine it with other trafic income strategy like youtube ,facebook ,social media etc

This is similar to using Youtube alone as a main traffic source. I always engage in a multitude of marketing strategies that can bring traffic to my website. I think a mixture of paid and free traffic sources can give you the most bang for your buck.

I guess all modules of digital marketing modules are useful for promoting the website and getting leads on the website through PPC and SEO.

Seo, take a long time to get good results. However, PPC gets instant results from ads.
Well it totally depends upon the business niche

I like the way to describe your article, thank you for sharing this valuable information through this site.

In total accord with is mentioned here. You can survive alone with SEO, you need to have supplementary means to thrive in the industry. Just found aspect missing here, which is influencer marketing. It is also one of the great means to drive traffic and conversion.

Of course, focusing only on SEO is a rather limited strategy. However, this tool should not be ignored either, especially if it does not show results immediately. And in general, as practice shows, you should not rely on one thing, efforts should be applied in different directions for the best result. Relying on just one tool can hurt you a lot in case of some significant changes, as happens Google's algorithms every year.

Driving traffic through multiple sources is the best approach because any one channel can and will be fickle at times, most of all, Google.

Blog, publish a podcast, publish videos on YouTube, guest blog, network on social media and comment genuinely on blogs. Vary streams to keep traffic humming along.

Well, for any successful SEO campaign all other methods of online marketing need to be executed as well. If somebody say the opposite, probably doesn't have any clue about SEO at all.

I also think that it's useful to have a well-rounded strategy, not only because of the benefits of each tool, but also because if one of your methods falls short, you still have others in motion that you can focus your attention on.

SEO is slow, but effective. My problem is you can wake up one day and the search engines no longer like your website. They can penalize you for whatever reason and stop sending your websites traffic. This has happened to me several times in the past.

That's why I focus on paid advertising mostly, with a small mix of SEO. Ideally, you want 2-3 good paid traffic strategies you can master and use to scale your business.

If you are 100% dependent on organic traffic, you are one bad day from losing most of your income. Been there done that.

Yes, you're right, SEO alone is not enough to have a good level of site traffic.
Crowd-marketing and online reputation management tools work very well. Along with this, I think you can use the YouTube channel.
Almost every Internet user watches videos there and looks for some information.
So this is a great source of traffic for your site!

Personally I think you should nail one marketing channel before trying to spread yourself too thin. You don't need to be doing 10 different marketing channels at once especially if it's a new business. You should concentrate your resources around 1 key goal e.g increasing web traffic by X within 9 months. An affiliate marketer making $10,000 profit a month from SEO doesn't necessarily need email marketing. There are numerous other examples like that. Also, this article isn't exactly revolutionary. Multi-channel marketing has been talked about for over 10 years. It's about understanding who your customers are and where they are. Generally the concept of using more than one channel is sensible, but it has to be in the specific context of a business, where their customers are, and their current resources/goals etc

I don't think I'm an exception, SEO is a incredible asset to have, is like digital real state, a place in the Internet that you can monetize and that have good value; but there are great assets in IM that can give you that success, for example, paid traffic and list building, I built a healthy 16k email list in 3 months with a proof of concept, a funnel and Fb ads, I'm living out of that list 6 years later because I got enough loyal consulting clients. I know people which do the same with Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram or Tiktok and even through JV and affiliates...The point is, every person is different, if you love Twitter and hate SEO, but you focus on SEO because that's a MUST for success, then you are doing yourself a disservice...Find what works for you! Anyway, just my 2 satoshis

Yes, brand management or Customer Satisfaction is a massive thing that people don't put emphasis on enough. Why spend hours on SEO to get new traffic when you can be pleasing your existing customers via great customer service and turn them into repeat customers. Don't look for new traffic, use your existing traffic.
