Hello everyone,

After getting a few reviews of "all in one seo" and "Platinum SEO plugin" I've decided to go with Platinum SEO plugin.

In your opinion, what settings should I use for the best seo of my home page and posts?

Example:

Use Categories for META keywords or not!

Rewrite Titles or not!

Use noindex for Categories or not!

and so on!

If you have any experience with this plugin please advise me on the different setting I should take andvantage of to maximize the seo of my home page and posts. Thank You!

  • Does anyone know how to set this up effectively?

  • Your doing right with platinum seo
    1. ck the box to do automatic 301 redirect, canonical URLs and Rewrite titles
    2. noindex catagory, tag, search results and archive to prevent duplicate content
    3. nofollow login pages, tags, external pages from homepage, archive and category's
  • Can you clarify blackbook? I have a static section on the top of my blog with a link to my main website. If I want to give link juice how do I 'follow' that link? The SEO plugin has this wording: 'nofollow external links on front page'
If I tick that box, will it kill the juice on that link to my main page?
  • I will "kill the link juice" on any external page, like you linking form your blog to another site like google.com. If you link from mysite.com to mysite.com/mypage or blog.mysite.com then the link will be dofollow. What you also want to do is to nofollow/ noindex the pages on your site that are pure duplicates like the archive, search, tag, category and login pages.
  • so set it for no follow to kill other links right...and it will still link to my site...(blog is mysitedotcom/news)

    • Remember that rel=nofollow does not disallow a search engine from indexing the pages that you are linking to. It only tells the search engines that that page holds no relevance to your site. To prevent them from indexing you must use the noindex tag and also add it to your robots.txt file to disallow the search engine agent.
  • thanks...and to confirm, I will still get link juice from my blog to my main site even if I tic the 'no follow' box for the home page...
  • absolutely... so long as its under the same domain name.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • you da man...thanks
  • Another question:
What does this mean, and should I check follow or no-follow?
  • You want to nofollow and noindex pages that you you don't want to be indexed like "contact us" pages... thinges like that.
  • I use the default overall settings for most of my sites except that I change the title to the page or post title and don't include the blog title.

The most recent version of Platinum supports the canonical tag for posts so you don't have to really worry about nofollow on archives. In fact, this seems to help better than the old nofollow technique.

On "about me", policy pages and a few others, I use noindex.
  • Thanks guys. Still confused. See the attached pic for what I'm looking at...Attachment 3277

    • Leave this at the default settings unless you want to nofollow, noindex the page.
  • No experience with Platinum. I have always used Headspace2. I have never understood why people prefer All in One over Headspace2. I have tested both and found Headspace features to be better.
  • So this refers to the page and not the outbound links on the page? I don't want to 'follow' links to other sites that I may have put in an article.
    Thx.
