I often wondered as to how much web design would matter in SEO. Experts are most likely to say that websites with innovative designs tend to rank higher in the search results. How far is that true? Outsourcing sites claim they do this and that when it comes to fashioning websites.

    Since the 10th result gets 2.5 percent of the clicks, it's safe to assume that anything past page one has abysmal organic traffic results. This is why you want to design and optimize your website as well as possible to increase the chances that you rank higher on SERPs.

    Excellent site design has an impact on all facets of your online presence. When someone wants to learn more about your brand, they usually go to your website, which is also the key to improving your search engine presence. That's accurate, your search engine optimization is significantly impacted by web design (SEO).

    If by design you mean the look and feel of it, it does not. Contrary to what some have said.

    If you're talking about speed and such, it does some.

    If people link to your site like crazy, on their own, all design flaws are overruled (as long as your pages load).

    SEO is like a continuum that depends on which keywords you're targeting. You should be studying the top 3 results for your keywords and do what they've done: they're the pudding containing the proof.

    You want to be exactly like them, but a bit better. I know, mutually exclusive.

    So, first, be exactly like them, then get one more backlink. For instance.

        Yes the design has impact that is not immediately apparent.

        But once in the first place on the SERP it is obvious that it plays, because the behavior of the user and the bounce rate is taken into account by the algos of google.

    Good web design doesn't help with rankings until you reach the first page. At that point different factors such as bounce rate come into focus. If your site looks like pure rubbish, most visitors will immediately go back & thus hurting your CTR & Bounce rates.

  • Your SEO ranking is boosted by good design, while your ranking is hurt by bad design. It's important to remember that this isn't about "gaming" search engine robots. Search engine bots are trying to mimic the human user experience. What's bad for human users is also bad for search engine bots; the two go hand in hand.

    I do not think design has much influence on the SERP unless they don't follow the basic SEO rules.

    1. Site must be crawler friendly.

    2. Must have proper link structure.

    3. Correct robots.txt and sitemap.

    4. Avoid JavaScript links.

    5. Site must be simple and load fast.

    6. Site must be mobile friendly (Responsive theme).

    The importance of web design in SEO will vary depending on your website's content, architecture, and overall look and feel. However, improving your web design can help improve your site's visibility in search engines. This is because good web design makes everything from your text to images clean and easy to read. In addition, well-designed websites display a user-friendly interface that facilitates navigation and displays semantic titles and descriptions for each page element that use HTTPS whenever possible to avoid malicious third-party tracking scripts.

    It matters a lot. Design, presentation, section size, image size, number of static elements, videos, etc... A bad design/development can literally kill SEO efforts completely.

    A good website always rely on balance - presentation and SEO. If one get more than the other, than quite a lot of problems can happen.

    It'll affect SEO positively but not in the first priorities factor.
    Meaning, if you have good contents, having a good design is the next level of what we can do it have longer onsite time.
    Which means will affect SEO positively (on page). But 'good design' is way below in priority compared to good content.

    You may be surprised to learn that there are many ways that the design of your website can affect its ability to rank well in search results. These factors include things like page load times, mobile-friendliness, navigation, and content quality--and they're just some of the aspects of good web design that can help boost your ranking capabilities. I will cover some common SEO issues related to web design, including how they affect search engine rankings and what steps you can take in order to resolve them.

    Page Load Time

    Any time your website takes longer to load than the user expects, it can negatively impact their experience. This is especially true when dealing with search engines like Google. If a page loads slowly, Google will rank that particular page lower on its search results pages. Why? Because nobody likes waiting for pages to load!

    If you want to improve your site's ranking in Google and maintain a positive user experience at the same time, make sure to make optimizing page load times a priority. There are various ways you can do this:

    Add as many images as possible without sacrificing content quality or usability - images take up bandwidth that could otherwise be used by other elements on your site;

    Use lightweight plugins (like WordPress themes) whenever possible; heavy coding can slow down your site significantly;

    Reduce file sizes by compressing them (using compression tools like Compress JPEG);

    Check for broken links on the site regularly and fix any issues immediately;

    In short: every step counts when trying to improve how fast your website loads!

    Mobile-friendliness

    The importance of mobile-friendliness can't be overstated. If your website isn't mobile friendly, it'll get penalized by Google. According to a study by Moz, if your site isn't mobile friendly, you'll lose a full 10% of your search traffic!

    That's why it's crucial that you make sure your web design is optimized for all devices--and not just desktops and laptops. For example, when someone visits your website on their phone or tablet they may have difficulty reading the text on certain pages because the screen is smaller than what they're used to seeing when using larger devices like desktop computers or laptops; or maybe scrolling down each page requires too many taps so visitors are forced into jumping back up one page before continuing down another (which makes using tabs essentially pointless).

    Easy Navigation

    Navigation is the most important part of your website. If it isn't easy to navigate, people will leave. In fact, studies have shown that as many as 40% of visitors left a website because they couldn't find what they were looking for.

    You need to make sure that your navigation links are easy to click on and consistent across all pages. Breadcrumbs are also useful in helping people understand where they are in the site structure so you can easily guide them towards their desired content

    Content Quality

    The content of your website is what will make or break you. If it's not relevant to the topic of your company, or if it's written for search engines rather than humans, then users won't bother reading it. The better the quality of your content, the more likely people will click on it and stay on your site.

    Here are some tips for writing good web content:

    •Make sure all text on your website is original and not copied from other sources (use resources like copyscape. This can be hard when you're trying to write something that answers every question someone might have about a particular topic--but don't worry! Don't be afraid to use jargon and technical language in order to explain things clearly; just make sure everyone understands what they mean before they leave their computers behind because they're lost somewhere along the way!

    •Write long enough so that people who want answers won't feel shortchanged after finishing reading through everything they needed help with solving problems related directly with--it's okay if this means making multiple pages available where each one focuses on one particular issue instead

    Secure Website (HTTPS)

    There is a growing trend of websites switching to HTTPS. So, if you haven't made the switch yet, it might be time to consider it. HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP and it helps users feel more confident about your site. It also signals that your website is safe and secure for them to use, which can improve your click-through rate (CTR).

    In addition to these benefits, Google recently stated that HTTPS sites may rank higher than HTTP sites because it is a ranking signal for them as well as user confidence being an important part of SEO.

    Takeaway:

    The takeaway here is that good web design helps with ranking. You can see it in the numbers, as well as in the way it makes you feel as a user. If you want to improve your rankings, look for a web designer who has experience in SEO and branding. They should be able to create a site that's both visually appealing and easy for search engines to crawl and index.

    It's not a ranking factor, but it can affect SEO rankings. How? Well, let's say you have a widget-full design that slows down your site; it will revert users and increase the bounce rate which matters a lot in google ranking terms. Now imagine you have a website that's simple and lightly designed, users will most likely stick(if your content is what they search for) and that could bring higher rankings in google. Having a responsive design matters even more when it comes to mobile search google says. But I've also seen websites with awful designs and they rank good, cause they've overall done well in other parameters that google takes into account.

    That's why design - innovative or not, is one of the many variables when it comes to SEO rankings, and if done altogether with other things it can make a difference, but certainly not a thing on its own.

    Yes design is important part, Because if your design is not good then user will not stay on your website and your bounce rate will be increase and Google will de-rank your website. So Design is really important.

    If by design you're talking about "aesthetics" then it doesn't matter. Beauty is the in the eye of the beholder and in this era of political correctness, Google isn't going to penalise "ugly" websites...

    However, if by design, you're talking about layout and user experience, then that absolutely matters. A good user experience is a vitally important ranking factor.

    Web "development" is more important than design, generally. Speed, loading times, mobile friendliness. To rank well, your site needs to pass Google Core Web Vitals. I'd suggest running your website through Google Pagespeed Insights. It's free.

    But the moral of the story is, there's nothing wrong with ugly!
