I steer clear of copyright domains for obvious reasons. There's so much out there to promote and share, the possibilities are virtually limitless.

Can you tell me if it is possible to have custom headers on the free templates that come with the Clickbump engine package?

Thanks

Wonder what to do with the sitemap title: "Nothing found for Site-map". Is it something I have missed when enable the sitemap?

I'm testing this template and I enabled the option to show post excerpt before the ads, but I can't find where to put the actual post excerpt?

Thanks Tadco, I'm looking forward to having you as a member.

There's lots of scammers trying to capitalize on the success of my products of late. They are sending unsolicited fake emails (like the one below) and claiming to be me. If you get such an email, toss it immediately. Its a scam.

The ONLY salespage for my products is at clickbumpengine.com. I also have clickbumpseo.com and clickbumprocks.com which will be used at a future date. However, if you purchase any of my products from any URL other than those, you are being scammed, period end of story. Don't be fooled.

Here's the scam email that's going out to email lists, this is a scam...

How many sites do you all keep on one adsense account. This method can be profitable but I am too scared that one day the big g will say" hey this guy has 200 five page sites with the same theme.disable his account"

How many of you have been banned

Hi Scott! Have been using your whole package for about 3 months now and loving it. I am about ready to start my next lot of sites and am getting alot better at the research side of things. But I am sometimes coming accross niches that meet all the criteria, with great exact search volume, low comp etc, and then i get stuck at a very low cost per click stats.

My question is, if an exact domain name contains a keyword with a decent cost per click, but the total long tailed keyword has a very low cost per click would you rule it out?

For example say plasticdogbowls domain was available (meets all the criteria) but the exact cost per click was .5c, but then the keyword "dog bowls" was much higher cost per click wouldnt it still be a good option because the domain name contains that phase anyway and therefore ads for "dog bowls" will still show on the site?

Hope this makes sense!

"If I do have a "secret" (and I don't, I prefer to call it an "edge") then it would be that I've been building css based websites, that are about as fast as its possible to make a website fast, for most of my adult life."

Sad, I don't know on that...

I have found what seems to be a great keyword.

There are 3 PR0 results in the top ten competition.

One problem though, even the pro sites have over 2000 backlinks and are optimized for the keyword in every way.

Is it worth it to try?

The keyword gets tons of searches and has a CPC of around $6

Hi Stoaf88, I believe the latest round of Google updates (Farmer and Panda) have decisively negated the power of backlinks (at least those of the "forced" variety that most of us in IM are used to working with)...

This has had the very real effect of tilting the scales in favor of what I've been preaching & teaching all along: on-page SEO and solid niche research and selection.

So in your case, it sounds like you've potentially struck gold.

Hi Scott,

I just wanted to let you know that I have been using the Clickbump method and it works beutifully! Thanks for developing such an effective system!

Just one question: my sites started to work, I'm earning a bit of a money - but I have heard that if you pass $100/day Adsense earning someone at Google will manually review your sites. Have they done that to you? (As far as I remember you announced quite a while ago that you make more than that amount). Was everything OK? Here is what I'm thinking about:

-too high CTR (heard that it's risky to have higher than 6%, but with your method it's about 10% in my case)
-Adsense ads between title and the body (therefore not enough "white space")
-and things like that.

I would really appreciate at least some vague clues about these things.

Thanks very much again and keep up the good work!

B.

Would like to know which of the CB themes you're using.

Im testing a few of them ... going for the authority style - and frankly - my CTR isnt even close to 1% - let alone 10%.

Ive also got a couple of the micro niche style - EMD - low comp term and 2-3 articles of content - green and black and just light olive green theme.

Rank Ascend Network - High PR Links / Guaranteed Rankings Increase

I use the CB theme on a few sites, although, due to my lack of WP expertise in tinkering with the code, I find I get on a lot better with static sites built with XSitePro.

I have found that the clickmagnet theme performs best for me, but I really think it is the niche that makes or breaks it. My WP sites tend to have a CTR of around 13% or so for the best ones. I have one site that gets only 3%, but it makes me 4-5 dollars per click so I'm not complaining. Might have to look at that one to see if it's a lack of advertisers, lack of relevant ads, or perhaps convert to a static site that I can build out a bit better.

My static sites do a lot better (in most cases). I have one which has a routine CTR of well over 20% and is making over $1000 per month now.

Although CB's themes are great and the ease of building is pretty good, I'd try some of his add on themes to mix things up a bit. I've had no drop in CTR using a graphical header, and making the sites look better moves them that bit away from the green/black (they seem to be disappearing) and the innoved themes that are everywhere.

Just my opinion, but I like a site that looks like it's not just thrown together. (I'm not implying DB's themes are that type of site though)

By the way I am using clickbump engine 3.5.1.

My adsense ad block (386x280) appears above the post.

On the post page you need to create an 'excerpt' in the excerpt box, and then go into the CB theme settings and tick the box about 'playing it safe' and using an excerpt. This will put your ad after the excerpt.

To the best of my knowledge I've only ever had one manual review that resulted in punitive action. That was a site that had a trademarked name in it. I ended up voluntarily turning the domain name over to the trademark owner. It was one of my first sites and I have not used trademarked domains since.

As far as your concerns below. You can easily increase space around the ads via theme options. You can also input a post excerpt to increase the space between the content and the ads. Finally, I have a one click option that allows to to place a hard line separator between the ads and your content. Check "CE4 > Ads" area to modify these settings....

I continue to use CBE on all of my adsense sites and have for over a year. CBE continues to produce one of the highest click through rates I've ever seen.

That coupled with Jumpstart, which makes the installation of a new site a breeze, and the ease of use of the theme gives you a winning combination that's quick and simple to implement. I've easily turned up 10 sites or more in less than an hour.

Also, the support is unmatched.

Hi Ben, I'd be happy to have you onboard! As a matter of good timing, I've just released my newest premium add on template for the Engine, CTR-Plus.

Besides being the fastest WordPress theme currently available, it can easily morph into virtually any design you (or I) can dream up, with the simple addition of a css stylesheet. That's the secret to how I can rapidly churn out new designs like "Amazonia", "Authority", "Better Blue", "Affiliate Pro" etc...

If you will PM me, I'll hook you up with this template (or any one of my premium templates) as free bonus when you order my software via Paypal at clickbumpengine.com

Here's a sneak peek at "CTR-Plus" and "Affiliate Pro"... (two versions come in the download, one with left sidebar, one with right)...

As of version 4.3 Beta, The theme will also automatically rotate from between Adsense Ads and Affiliate or Custom Ads (Amazon, ClickBank, Ebay EPN, Chitika, Etc) via a point and click option at "CE4 > Ads"

"Affiliate Pro"

"CTR-Plus"

I've been reading about going for high to very high competition, but very low CTR's, as far fewer people will go for the low CTR, thus the lion's share of views/click might be had. Any sense to that theory? Thank you. xntrik

Very confusing post...

Do you mean you're going to target keywords that have high competition but low CTR? How will you know what the CTR is beforehand? I think maybe you're confusing your terms?

Awesome information Clickbump and others! I am following this thread with great interest.

Ok, now for my newb question. When you say you have 20 sites per server with Hostgator, is that 20 sites per reseller account? I currently have their "baby" plan and have yet to upgrade to reseller.

TryBpo,
You're right. I meant CPC's, not CTR's. Thanks for pointing that out.

Ah, that makes sense then!

We've done some of the lower search volume + high CPC stuff. To be honest, they don't generally work out. One thing we've noticed is that sometimes you'll come across some extraordinarily high CPC's and you can basically throw them out. (I'm talking $10-$50 even CPC values in GKT in a niche that shouldn't have that) Also, even some of the more reasonable CPC's seem to be all over the place, in practice.

A more reliable method of estimating performance, for us, has been traffic and 1st page competition, hands down. Just my 2 cents...should try it yourself though with a couple of sites to see if you have similar results.

Hi J, these are brand new templates just released so I haven't done split testing yet. However, based on my experience with ad layout performance, I can pretty well predict it should be pretty close to the same for both.

Placing the ads above the fold, and supported by relevant images and copy, along with color coordinating the links and text to match the site, in my experience, works very well in your favor for CTR.

I've also just released a new beta version of my core theme, CE4, which these templates run inside of, that allows you to let the template auto rotate between two sets of Ads (Adsense and one other type of ad of your choosing) for example, Amazon, Ebay, Chitika, etc) to do ad performance optimization and see what works best for the site and niche.

The templates automatically wrap the text around the ads, be they Adsense or custom, which has also been shown to result in higher conversion rates.

I've just purchased the Clickbump and want to experiment with the older site that's in my signature.

This is a small wordpress site, but it's not a blog; the six pages are all static pages.

I've uploaded CE4 to wordpress, but have not activated it yet.

At this point, I'm wondering if there will be any problem since these are static pages and not posts. Is there something additional I need to do or be aware of?

I've tried to search on the Warrior forum and on the new Clickbump forum for an answer, but didn't find this issue directly addressed. I'm posting here because maybe there are others who are wondering this same thing.

EDIT: Okay, I've now found this from your blog: http://clickbump.com/why-posts-not-pages/ and although I'm too technically challenged to really understand all that you are saying here, I see that I first need to use a pages to posts plug-in on my old site before proceeding any further.

Correct?

Just want to say that I've communicated by email with Scott and in answer to my above question, he said I've got the right idea.

I'm really looking forward to using this software!

If a domain name already in use, can go to the plural version of keywords (for example, instead of niceyellowwidget.net niceyellowwidgets.net)?

re: SEO Plug-in

I plan to buy the bundle but is it possible to use the SEO plugin on sites I already have up on another theme (Genesis Lifestyle?)

Can I add my own header without going into the code?

Also, are there any discounts on purchasing additional themes with the bundle?

Thanks.

Scott:

First thanks for the great information - it has given me the confidence to get started.
Now, a total newbie question:
I am building several WP sites as add-on domains under a single Bluehost account. The WP sites are set up in the root directory of the main bluehost account name as follows:

Bluehost account name = xxxxxxx.net
Site name for example 1: persianweaverugs.net (created in root)
Site name for example 2: windowreplacement.org (created in root)

But the problem is that for Site 1, the site URL will turn out to be:
http://www.xxxxxx.net/persianweaverrugs...... and shows up as such in the address bar.
Will the first part (xxxxxx.net) affect the SEO of the sites. If so, what is the way around this? Do i have to set up each WP site in its own separate bluehost account?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, L

This has been a great thread - one for the WF hall-of-fame even, maybe!

BUT, it's now 'degenerated' (for want of a better word) into a support thread for the product that came out of the original post, and keeps getting bumped with questions from the product's users, without providing the forum any additional value. Rather than seeing the thread permanently locked or (heaven forbid) deleted, I would strongly suggest someone (probably the OP) take measures to put a stop to this. I can always unsubscribe, it's not a problem, just saying, for the good of what is still a valuable thread...

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

Good points all. I will try to better reign in the thread to topical discussions of this method and continue directing support requests to the ClickBump User Forums where they should properly be.

Hi Shane, I'm hearing good reports on keyword+x.com as a next best substitute for exact match.

For example, if you can't get bluewidgets.com (or .net or .org), try bluewidgetsx.com

Or bluewidgetsz.com, etc.

You suggesting not using plugins as ClickBump take care for most of them.
However it is not possible to get rid all of them.
What plugins would you recommend to use?
I am interested in use of the following plugins:
- akismet,
- cache,
- sitemap generator

All the best, q12321.

These are all fine plugins. The main thing to keep in mind when deciding whether to use a plugin is (1) Do I really need this functionality to meet the core objectives of the site and (2) Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

When you are evaluating the advantages/disadvantages of using a plugin, the central argument you are concerned with first and foremost is whether its a back-end plugin or a front-end plugin.

You can be much more relaxed about the number of back-end plugins you utilize since they do not impact the overall site performance for the average user (or more importantly, customer) visiting your site.

Where you have to be vigilant, is when you utilize plugins that load on each and every page load on the public facing site. These are what I call "front-end" plugins and, depending on the efficiency of how they are coded and can handle traffic and heavy loads, they can bring your site to a crawl when you have meaningful traffic.

Could you please elaborate on this giving some examples in the above categories.
How to recognize which plugin is front-end or back-end?

All the best, q12321.

Hi Q, as you might imagine, plugins don't really self-report, and WordPress guidelines don't require, whether or not they operate on the front-end, back-end, or both.

So its up to you as the site owner to know what you are installing (and more importantly, why) and do a bit of digging and research to find out.

Here are some examples of popular plugins that execute on the front end of the site:

1) All In One SEO
2) Platinum SEO
3) SEO Pressor
4) Almost all "social bookmarking", commenting, and "pretty link" plugins

Here are some examples of plugins that operate exclusively on the back-end of the site:

1) Google XML Sitemaps
2) Dean's FCK editor
3) ClickBump SEO
4) ClickBump JumpStart

This is by no means an exhaustive or comprehensive listing, but one I compiled off the top of my head to give you a few examples that I can confirm with certainty.

Yes, the domain name matters for SEO. Use Add-On Domains to create each of your sites.

I use Bluehost for several sites and each of them were created as an Add-on domain
