Are add-on domains free, or do you have to pay for hosting for each domain?

Just wanted to give a little update regarding my own progress using clickbump method, and also give a big shout-out and thanks to Scott for all the valuable info in this thread!

So, back in November, I did a bunch of niche research on microniches, bought around 40 domains (I went kind of niche-research crazy!) but only ended up throwing up 2 sites. After that, I got lazy and distracted by other things in life.

Both sites use Wordpress and Platinum SEO, and follow clickbump's advice for niche selection and SEO.

Site 1.) Simple 1 page site with about 300 words on front page, .net EMD

Site 2.) Simple WP site with ~300 words on front page and 2 ~300 word articles on separate pages

Within a week or two, Site 1 was on 1st SERP but Site 2 was way back in the depths... somewhere around SERP 20 or thereabouts.

I threw Adsense onto both sites and pretty much forgot about them. Here are my earnings since December:

Dec: $0
Jan: $0.60 (lol, my first Adsense income, hurrah!)
Feb: $6.00
Mar: $10.00
Apr: $23.00
May: $37.00
Jun: (So far) $70.00

Site 2 remained in obscurity until a week or so ago when it popped up to #2 result for the keyword phrase. It's still not getting many clickthroughs (due to crappy description, I think), so almost all of these results are from the single ONE PAGE site. It's not too much $$, but it's been pretty cool to see these earnings ramp up over the past few months, and all from a minimal amount of time investment in putting up two simple sites.

Seeing actual results has inspired me to get my ass in gear and start putting up many more sites. I've also decided to write 4-5 decent articles for each site based on other long-tail keywords to try and pull in some more traffic and also make sure they won't be considered "made for adsense" sites. (I'm hosting all my sites on the same account and am using the same adsense account, so I really don't want Google to slap me.)

I've put up two new sites in the past two days which I think will do rather well and have a bunch of EMDs ready to go that I'm going to build sites for in the coming weeks. I'll write another update later on to let you all know how things go.

Thanks again Scott, and everyone else who's contributed to this thread!

Some were saying that the Google Panda update hurt these types of sites and that Google was giving EMDs less weight.

Looks like this doesn't hold true in your experiences. Thanks for the stats.

Free with HostGator and/or BlueHosts "unlimited" plans. At about $8 bucks a month, it cannot be beat all around.

1) Develop a passion for niche research - you really have to enjoy ferreting out the next niche and you have to be able to get yourself inspired to do this over and over again. This is the most important concept you can master. If you fail at this, no amount of expertise at the remaining steps will matter. You'll be fighting against the wind.

2) Only work with exact match, top level domains - I value .com, .net and .org all EQUALLY and I've got sites ranked in the top 10 with all three extensions.

3) Seek niches that have a minimum of *1000 EXACT match local monthly searches for their keyword phrase (KWP) - use Google Adwords Keywords Tool (GAKT) for this.

4) Look for three PR- or PR-0 sites in the top ten results for the KWP that you can unseat - Once you've verified 2 and 3 above, type your search term (without quotes) into Google using the SEO4Firefox plug-in to determine if you can meet the 3 site min criteria

5) Launch a tightly focused, insanely optimized, seo savvy, css based site that showcases your niche's KWP with laser focus. One page of content with 350-1000 words and 3 site pages (about, contact and privacy) is all you need. Develop or adopt a system that allows you to repeat this rapidly.

*This number was recently lowered from 2400 to 1000 to reflect the new GAKT update as of August 2010.
Very, very good job!

How many articles did you submit on average? Quick guess is below 10 for every keyword with 1,000 visits on a monthly basis.

Great job!

Hey all,

I just came across this thread and have to say I'm curious to throw up a site over the long week-end. I did a quick search for a 'product related' domain name and came up with something pretty quick oddly...

I have found a '.ca' domain that consists of 2 words which has
550,000 (global searches) / 33,100 (local)
and in plural
368,000 (global) / 27,000 (local)
this is exact match data I think?

Anyhow, on google when searching this the #1 site is wikipedia, #2 / #3 / #4 are e-commerce websites, #2 / #3 have a PR of 3 , #4 has a PR of 1

Thoughts ?
I've always been pretty skeptical of wasting my time on this type of stuff ... but it seems like this might be a pretty decent thing ?

Also as I said this is a product , as such there is also adverts on adwords.

Did not submit any articles in the first 4 months, just submitted 1 article for "Site 2" a few days ago...

@Tcalp:
Seems like it may be too competitive a keyword, just based on the amount of Global and Local searches...

Also, the prevalent advice is to be to go for .com, .net, and .org domains

BUMP for an awesome guy with even awesomer (not a word) products...

For those of you who are wondering, BizLocal is, once again, AWESOME, especially for the price. In short, I have finally found something that has filled the void I've had for years created by the need for a simple, functional, professional-looking, easy-to-work-with, impressive WP theme to use for offline business sites.

John, I think you and I are on the same page. Probably the same paragraph. I love Scott's Clickbump products and they do well for me - online and offline. My offline clients love the layouts.

I just finished Jack Duncan's A4 Keyword Research product this week and it's fabulous for keyword research. It goes way beyond standard keyword research tips. Combined with his tools, he's a solid provider of useful stuff in this game.

I'll be circumspect and not be a total jerky advertisement for Jack, but anyone interested can Google him for more info, or PM me and I'll send you what I know about him and the tools. And you can read John's review, too, for another point of view.

Ditto. With Duncan's and Blanchard's tools and tips, it almost feels like I don't even do any work anymore

Thanks John and Susan. I really appreciate the kind words!

I've been pulling 18 hour days the past couple of weeks enhancing the product lineup and gearing for the 4.4 release of CE4 and it really gives me strength to hear how the system is working as its intended to.

I've used both of these. They were both very capable software apps (and remain so), however, the recent Google API updates have apparently had some impact on some of the method calls they use to pull real time data from Google servers.

Perhaps someone who uses them currently can comment on how impactful this is to their usefulness. I know Market Samurai in particular may be less affected overall since its scope is quite a bit broader.

You can still get perfectly good research data doing it the old fashioned way, with free tools like GAKT, SEO 4 Firefox and the Google Search engine itself.

I have been using the old method of wandering ebay and amazon for searching keywords since an year now.. But I find it too laborious.. Its too much time consuming and mostly I end up in getting keywords with no exact match domain available..

Any suggestion to make the keyword research faster?

Thanks

Yeah I was just checking that from your signatures few minutes ago.

Have you used that personally?

Like how much efforts do I need to put to get one keyword with 1600+ exact searches per month with exact match domain name available? You are having any idea?

I just want to cut some time on keyword researching..

Yes, I use it all the time. If you want to cut time on keyword research, you definitely want to check it out. The only reason I wrote a review on it is because I liked it so much and was so impressed with it, and continue to be.

I'm not really impressed with spiner pro because all it did is just showed some hidden keywords with only 40-300 searches per month.. That's not what I'm looking for.

Hi clickbumb!

These things always getting me headache...searching for KWP and right domain...

For example: My KWP is herbal cosmetics

GAWK local monthly searches - broad 6,600; exact 880 and phrase 3,600

Now, what would be my exact keyword domain then? Is it herbalcosmetics.com?

If I opt for broad and/or phrase, what would be my keyword domains?

What makes it different from each other?

Please enlighten me.

Thanks.

Your exact Keyword domain would be HerbalCosmetics.com/.org/.net/.info whatever extension you may choose.

Not sure If I understand your next question correctly but your broad and/or phrase keywords would have "HerbalCostmetics" in the domain name. "HerbalCostmeticsForWomen.com" etc.

If you were to try and rank for the "broad" or "phrase" to receive the full amount of traffic you'd have to rank for every broad and phrase term.

Now my question, how do you get the 4 pictures at the top of each post. I've been resizing my pictures and adding them there manually at the top of each post but I'd like to add more pictures throughout the post and have around 6-7 pictures in each post would be pretty excessive.

Thanks!

Thanks bro! What I mean on my second question is that since they have (exact, broad, phrase) the same KWP (herbal cosmetics) the domain name HerbalCosmetics.com applies to all of them...be it exact, broad or phrase. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's my understanding.

Since I sent a PM to clickbump and no response, I'd like to share a problem I've been having, and a little case study.

Since I've been using the clickbump themes on new websites, when my sites get indexed they never enter the top 100. Some have been a week +.

I thought it was a little weird, so I created a mini case study.

I created 2 same level competition websites, did everything the exact same. One used the clickbump theme, one used a normal wp theme.

After both being indexed, my normal wp theme is ranking #25 for a couple terms. The clickbump theme hasn't entered top 100 yet for any keywords.

I don't get it, why would the Clickbump theme be causing this?

Was the keyword phrase exactly the same on those? That's weird because all the CE sites I build usually sit on page 1 or 2 right after they get indexed, with only on-page SEO in place.

Exactly, before I switched to the new Clickbump theme they'd get indexed on the first or second page. Now it's been days and nothings appearing in the top 100 besides the site I used my old theme with.

Can't seem to figure out what would be causing this if it wasn't the theme.

Hi there ITM, I responded to your PM today. You sent it at midnight (my time) last evening.

Thanks for investing in my software, I have a dedicated user forum for product discussion. If you need access, send me a PM and I'll look up your account and get you set up.

Let's try and keep this thread devoted to discussions of the method I've outlined in post #3

I like to know if I can get clickbump express with the Amazonia theme instead the Amaze theme?

I am looking to use theme for amazon affiliate sites.

Can you explain what about the Amazonia theme makes it better
than a free theme or another paid theme?

thanks...

The panda update has done nothing to my micro sites. I have over 40 sites and they are still between page 1 and 2 in google. This system works really well if you know how to do it.

I'm having trouble getting my new micro-niche sites to rank on page 1. I'm just wondering; for those of you who are making a lot of micro-niche sites, what's the ratio of sites you have entering SERP #1? I have a few sites that have been up for a couple of weeks, fit all the criteria, and yet are stuck on page 2, 5, or way way farther away. I'm trying to build some backlinks to bump them up, but that's an area I'm really new at so it's taking a while.

Hi Ed, JumpStart Pro includes a copy of CE4 and the Amaze premium template pre-installed.

PM me if you have any product related questions and I'll be glad to help.

Absolutely, the post title that is. Its also in the "<title>" tag. You can optionally include the "Site" title in the title tag as well, like so:

<title>post title | site title</title>

or the default would be

<title>post title</title>
Feel free to PM me if you have any product related questions. I'll be glad to answer them.

In my opinion if you have sites a few weeks old with little or no backlinking you are fantastically lucky to see them anywhere on google.

Not true at all. If you're on-page SEO is spot-on, especially with this theme, you can see great rankings with new sites with no backlinks. I built 6 new sites this morning. As soon as they got indexed, one was at #27, another was at #34, another was at #47, and the other 3 were in the 70's...

Hey Scott - I tried placing an order for CB SEO and get an error on the order page. I have sent you a PM with more details.

Thanks,

@John Williamson: Are you still seeing sites climb to 1st SERP without doing much backlinking?

It seems that the original purchase of clickbump engine comes with only 6 months of updates. Not that i'm complaining but i clearly did not know this when i first purchased (but it's stated way bottom at the salespage). Additional 6 months of updates costs $17 i think, which is like buying the theme all over again just for the updates.

I respect Scott cause of his product but i feel that this is somewhat of a hidden cost that is not too cool.

Darn! Good to know. I'll add $3/month to my contingency plan.
At a lowly $1/click, that's 3 clicks a month more that I will need. That is, if I would have had just 1 Adsense site. But I'll also have $1 contingency in my contingency plan.

#1 position on first page, of course not.

Then I wish you could tell me why I can't get my pages ranked when the search volume is between 500 and 1,300 and fairly easy competition according to Traffic Travis. I have don't blog commenting, I have done article marketing. Yet I appear nowhere in the first 50 pages according to Traffic Travis and I think it was SEO Rush.

I did appear at the bottom of the first page of Google for some keyword that I never went after and that gets about 70 searches a month. So who cares about that one is my feelings.

I am starting to think that Google just hates me.
