Anyone do well getting traffic to your site for misspelled words. For example, writing articles on your site that are keyword driven:

Instead of writing an article on "Internet Marketing" you write on "Intrnt Marketing" or "Internot Marketing," etc..
#keywords #misspelled #site #traffic

Once I bought a WSO about it. It's title is My Little Secret. Make some research, maybe you can find it.

    Been there, done that.

Not worth the time and efforts

But you can always do a quick test. IF you do, don't go for 2 prase words mistakes - go for root keywords: dites - diets.

Thanks. That is what I was thinking. I figured that it would bring in some traffic esp. if you went after enough of them. When you did this, was it a total failure or did it amount to some traffic?

Small traffic, nothing to die for.

Google is nowhere stupid and they catch/prevent this kind of stuff. For one keyword the competition was 44.000 BUT while my misspell was dominating that search I was number 3 - while one and two are corrections:

        Did your search for...

        result one

        result two

        -------------------

        My result

But you can always deliver some small tests and see how it goes!!

        Good luck.

Some words are often misspelled and it would be a good idea to take advantage of it.

I am going to pick out the best ones I can find and try and write an article around it and see what happens.

Many times google will suggest other searches.
If people redo a search, then it is a moot point.

The other thing I have seen is that google will automatically
include (and very high) sites with the corrected spelling.

The only way thin may be good is if a misspelling is actually
        another keyword--loose for lose, etc.

You can also cash in by having domains that are close to a bigge.
Then typing errors give you traffic. We've all done this. Type a
domain and get a search page and scream "aaaaaaaaaaargghhhh."

Something that's great for typos is domain parking.
Like if you buy a domain such as facbk.com
I am kicking myself for not doing that.

    ---edit---
oops, the guy above me said the same thing!

Agree, if is a good .com keyword better use domain parking, anyway never tried this strategy.

    Hi
Not so sure miss-spellings are worth spending time on now as Google corrects searchers spelling errors and suggets the correct spelling!

You can try doing this but you will have to do some research and this is the same research and effort you can put into just finding real keywords.

  • 1. Google will try and correct the spelling
    2. You could make yourself look bad in the eyes of people who know how to spell
    3. It all depends on how misspelled the word is and how far off it is.
    4. If you find a misspelled word with traffic volume throw it in your title and sprinkle it on your page and test it.

I'm not the worlds greatest speller and once in a while I'll see some of my oversights show up in Google Analytics. If you can make money from it then go for it. But you might just end up steering your rankings away from the correct spelling.

yeah - it does work for sure.

Another thing to do is look for words that are similar but are totally not related to your niche.

An example would be orange fruit/orange paint

You can get traffic - however, it is usually highly untargeted.
