  • Yes, these are probably the most reasons why a website's bound rate must be high. People don't understand the side effects of these. But it also causes you the loss of traffic and ranking.
  • Mobile website speed and heavy images and videos also are reasons

    • I agree, that is why we also need to pay attention to optimized our site to mobile.
  • Yeah, You are absolutely right. Another factor you could add to the high bounce rate is Poor mobile friendliness. Bounce rate also affects the ranking on the Search engine result page.

  • Well those factors ha a huge impact to your website, so better take note of that.
  • Privacy may play a joke. I understand most people do not care. However, if your audience is narrow, and specifically they care a lot about privacy, then... Maybe check metrics browser-wise, and OS-wise, like firefox may stay longer on pages. Also, why not think if you should be private as in definition (like, for example, cannabis)

  • slow page loading speed is one of the main factors that your bounce rate would be high. You have to publish content that is easy to load or comprise. Sometimes, web hosting types also affect the page load speed so make sure to have a reliable hosting plan as per your site needs. Also, misleading content leads the visitor to leave the page quickly.

  • Summed up pretty well. Experienced all of them first hand and can vouch for it.
    Thanks for sharing.
  • mobile and desktop website speed and W3c Validation errors are the reason
  • That's why paying $2 for a cheap slow loading web hosting or go for a $25 per month fast quality web hosting does matter.

Fast web hosting does make a difference - in regards to loading speed, ranking of your website and if it brings you just extra 1 sale per month it's worth paying for.
  • Yes, You are right these are the reasons which may lead us to a high Bouns rate.
If you make your snippet catchy to attract clicks, then ensure page content meets expectations. Falling short of expectations makes users feel misled. Bouncing is inevitable.
Instead, do your best to create compelling content (true, easier said than done).
    Here are basics:

    Optimize headings for main keywords
    Keep phrases short
    Improve internal linking
    Use enticing call-to-actions
Mention related blog entries to keep users interested

  • For every business, having a website is necessary nowadays to show the product or service. Customers interact with our business through the website only so, the website should have proper content, design, loading speed, SSL certificate, etc. Otherwise, users will not spend more time on the website and will immediately exit from the website called a bounce rate.

Here I am sharing some more factors which may lead to an increase in the bounce rate.

    1. User-engaging website design: If a website has an attractive user interface (UI) and engaging design, leads to a better user experience (UX). It will attract the customer's attention to spend time on a website and they will feel good to visit again. Otherwise, the customer didn't spend time on the website even though it is a good service.
    2. Page loading speed on mobile: As most people are using smartphones, they will do web searches on mobile. So, it is important to build mobile-friendly web pages that shouldn't have any loading speed or technical error issues. It is important to concentrate on AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) to improve the performance of webpages on mobile to reduce bounce rate.
    3. Low quality of web content: The content must be relevant and in good quantity. Then users will understand the business or service by reading content, blogs, and articles. Otherwise, they will exit from the website.
    4. SSL Certificate: SSL(secured socket layer) certificate will secure a website from data theft. When a user enters the website, If it shows the website entered is non-secured then the user will exit from the website leads to an increase in bounce rate.
    5. Call to action: website is the source where customers interact with our business. If customers are ready to take our service there should be an option to proceed forward, then the customers feel good to take the service. So, It is important to include CTA on the website like Form filling, downloading, login, Subscribing, etc.

  • One of the most common reasons for websites with high bounce rates is poor UX design. This means that the navigational elements on your site are difficult or impossible to use and can often result in Visitors abandoning your page without ever reaching your content.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • High bounce rate. It does affect seo. There are some paid hosting that are quite good at dealing with that. I like your opinion
  • [DELETED]
  • Absolutely right. these factors have huge impact on the site. it will increase bounce rate as well as decrease your ranking.
  • You people have no idea what you are talking about. Bounce rate does not impact rankings. Embarrassing.

This thread is missing one of the most important factors that can lead to a high bounce rate: searchers found exactly what they were looking for.

A high bounce rate is not always indicative of a poor user experience. It can be the exact opposite. There are plenty of sites performing extremely well with high bounce rates. Wikipedia's bounce rate is probably over 95%. Why? Because people found exactly what they wanted. There was no need for them to browse around.

Another example would be if I was searching for a plumber because a water pipe just burst in my house. Am I going to browse around and read their blog to see what their opinion is on copper versus PVC pipes? No. I'm going to click on the first result I see and look for a phone number. Then I'm going to pick up the phone and call them.

That will register as a bounce, but should the site be punished for it? Of course not. I found exactly what I needed.

  • Got It, This is very informative information.
    • [1] reply
    • No, not informative as it does not address the main thing. Which is, what is the design-goal.

If your site is, by design, considered successful if people consume a lot of content (either on one page or many pages), then a high bounce rate may indicate there's a problem with your site. (It may also indicate that your marketing is off, as in, you're attracting the wrong people.)

If, on the other hand, your site is designed to get people to immediately (or very fast) take some action that removes them from your site, and they do, your bounce rate will be high, but that would be a good thing.

Besides Mike's example above, think of the site of an affiliate. If you had an affiliate site that got people to jump to the sales page in 2 seconds every time, you'd be jumping with joy (assuming the sale page converted). Yet your bounce rate with be 100%.

  • Besides what Mike said above, a squeeze page is designed to be a quick in and out. Read a few lines of copy, add your email address, hit submit, and leave.

  • High bounce rate includes poor content, bad user experience, inaccessible navigation system, or a counterintuitive website design. it is a sign of many things that could be wrong with your website. If any website are struggling with a high bounce rate, it is crucial to know the exact reasons.
