Google unveils new site names and favicon to desktop search results

After introducing them on mobile search in October, Google has now made the site names, revised favicons, and sponsored labels available on desktop search. Since last November, Google has been testing the desktop version; as of today, both the desktop and mobile versions are online.

Here is a screenshot of the new Sitename and updated favicon in desktop search - note, the old interface just had the URL, not the site name or the favicon:

    I personally don't like it, it smells like a Tik-Tok era thing. Now gotta put favicons.ico on all sites, more work

    I have a short memory, need side-by-side images to see a difference.


    I've been seeing what you show for months now, have no recollection of how things used to look, just that they looked different.
