Wordpress Database Security Issues?

I have been reading through some threads and have seen multiple instances where people mentioned that wordpress databases posed some sort of security issue?

This is a concern for me as I am fairly new to IM and web site development and wordpress is all I know. That along with the fact I already have 15 wordpress sites up and running...
So i was curious as to whether or not there was a way to suppress these security issues? Or even what they are?

    same thing with me; wordpress is all i know and i dread having to learn another way of creating sites. i am not a techie ( i am a copy & paste coder)
    .. and probably this is when it starts making sense to consider reseller account with my host service?
