Hi,
I am confused with profile backlinks and want to get expert suggestions. I am creating backlinks for many clients but I want to confirm that profile backlinks still work.

Waste of time. At best they are ignored by Google. At worst you get your client penalized for an unnatural link profile.

This can help boost your website's authority and relevance in the eyes of search engines, making it easier for users to find your site.

However, when creating profile backlinks, it is important to make sure they are quality links from reputable sources. Low-quality links can actually hurt your website's ranking rather than helping it, so take the time to research potential sources before creating any profile backlinks.

Creating profile backlinks in 2023 can be a great way to help boost your website's visibility on search engines if done correctly.

Then what type of backlinks should I create? Because I don't want to invest money in purchasing backlinks for my client. Because it is a low budget project.

You need backlinks that you do not create (read dave_hermansen's post above) or backlinks that do not look like you created them.

So, focus on things like the skyscraper technique (www.backlinko.com), broken link technique, or pay for backlinks (from places that do not sell backlinks... oxymoron, I know, but it can be done all the same... You want to be the only one they link to or (second best) one of a handful only.

I know you said you do not want to buy, but it's a good option, and you may be able to buy them without paying money (you link to them from some other site you control, or you provide them content, with the understanding that they link to your content from inside their site).

Or create your very own private blog network. If you let Google know you've got yourself a PBN, the links better have a reason besides rank manipulation attempt for existing. (As in, you have a site for exercise equipment and a site for recipes for losing weight... Well, a link or two from one to the other can be accepted as you telling visitors where to find good info... On the exercise equipment sites, you have a page where you sell (and talk) about treadmills where you mention that exercising isn't the only part of looking fit, eating right does too.. Click here to get some healthy yet tasty meal plans for losing weight... kind of thing.

And, or course, give yourself backlinks from inside your site: they count too.

Profile links are absolute garbage links. If I had a company creating them for me, I would fire them immediately. More scary is the fact that someone would hire someone (an "expert", they think) who doesn't know that.

The concept is simple and I repeat it all the time here ... if you can create a link, yourself, on someone else's website, the link will not do an iota of good for SEO. In some very select cases, you may get traffic, but self-created links will NEVER help you rank better!

A link is beneficial for SEO if someone at another site makes a conscious decision to link to you. PERIOD!

Simple answer is yes. There are many high quality and authority websites that you can create do-follow profile links. For me it has always helped to increase number of one way links and contributed to SEO.

So, how do you explain the opinions above that its bad?
Why do Google advise in their "guidelines" not to do it and if you do it, then you could be penalized?

There isn't official statement in Google Webmaster Blog or I don't think that this has ever been discussed in Webmaster Central Hours. Test it and measure the results. Profile links has never hurt any of my rankings. Of course don't overdo it

What nonsense. Profile links are clearly against Google guidelines!!!! Any links that YOU create to try and manipulate rankings is against the guidelines - they have been saying that for years.

I am happy for my competitors to waste their time on this. I will spend my time doing things that actually help.

What are your reviews about UGC backlinks. Blog comments, local citations, contextual backlinks such web 2.0s, forum backlinks, social backlinks and any other type of backlinks that don't cost any penny.

Best suggestion - go to backlinko and educate yourself. You posted previously that you had just taken an SEO course - but doesn't sound like it taught much.

In ths short time since you STARTED this thread - moderators have deleted EIGHT posts by spammers who think trying slip in a link is 'getting a backlink'.

Nope, doesn't work like that. However, it shows you how many marketers have no clue what they are doing. You don't have to be an expert - just learn enough not to be a spammer.

tedroger, You may want to switch to the classic view. Below is the view people see, but will not know who you replied to. Go to the Black Tool Bar and hover over your user name. The drop box will open, then click on classic view. When you want to reply to some specific use the quote button.

  • Backlinks still works, yes, you can create profile Links, make sure that they Looks Genuine, so create on your name instead of your business, means in the username, not to take your business domain name.

Profile backlinks may still have some value in 2023, but their effectiveness has decreased significantly over the years. It is more beneficial to focus on high-quality, organic backlinks from authoritative websites that provide real value to users.

Profile backlinks can still be useful for SEO if placed on high quality websites and are natural and don't look spammy.

Most social media websites allow you to create profile backlinks.

True. But just because you could does not mean you should. Creating them for SEO is a waste of time.
